Questo è l'ultimo kit di Bonnie Lavish, fatto ieri sera a tarda, tardissima notte.

Penso che per un po' non farò più fiori. 

Anche se sto già pensando di comprarli bianchi e personalizzarli da sola....

Non ho più scritto niente sulle mini ma ciò non significa che non abbia fatto niente.

Purtroppo però non riesco più ad organizzare il mio tempo che sembra sfuggirmi dalle dita.

Ho notato che altre persone hanno scritto le stesse cose per cui mi preoccupo un po' meno.

I fiori che vedete partono dai magnifici kit di www.fineflowers in miniature che distribuisce quelli di Bonnie Lavish ( grazie a Linda per la dritta). Sono bellissimi e facilissimi da fare, ne ordinerò altri.

Solo la peonia nel cestino è farina del mio sacco ma devo modificare la tecnica, è troppo stretta.Il cesto è il mio primo tentativo di intreccio fatto con quello che avevo in casa, filo di lino per arrosti!

I haven't written anything about minis but it does not mean that I have done nothing.

Alas I cannot organize my free time any more and it seems to run through my fingers.

I noticed that someone else wrote about this hence I'm a bit less worried.

The flowers you see come from the magnificent kits of www.fineflowers in miniature which distribuites Bonnie Lavish's kits ( thank you Linda for the hint). They are beautiful and very easy to do.

Only the peony in the basket is mine own but I have to change tecnique, it is far too tight. The basket is my first trial at weaving with what I had at home, that is linen floss for roastbeef!

I barattoli invece sono un lavoretto di parecchio tempo fa. Mercedes mi aveva mandato alcuni dei suoi insieme al più meraviglioso microscopico nido con le uova di pettirosso.

Io li ho riprodotti, sono quelli più cicciotti, e ne ho fatti altri usando come coperchio il tappo per le viti  che è di metallo e rende bene l'idea.

The canisters are an experiment I have done some time ago. Mercedes sent me some of her canisters together with the teeny tiniest robin nest with eggs inside.

I reproduced them, they are the stouter ones, and I have done others using a metal screewcover as a lid.

La Liguria non ha solo splendidi panorami da offrire a chi vi si reca ma anche testimonianze di vita passata, più o meno lontana.

Un esempio è Casa Carbone a Lavagna che è stata abitata dai  fratelli Emanuele e Siria Raffo fino al 1993 anno in cui fu donata al FAI come testimonianza di una casa dove il tempo si è fermato.

Liguria has not only gorgeous landscapes to offer at its visitors but it also has many samples  of a past life, may be far or near in time.

One of these sample is Casa Carbone in Lavagna which has ben lived in by Emanuele and Siria Raffo, brother and sister, until 1993 when it was donated to FAI as a testimony of a house where time has stopped.
Today Matteo an I have gone visiting it; unfrtunately the photos are very poor since I could not use flash or a tripod but you can click on the link www.fondoambiente.it  or on FAI at my link list and enjoy a virtual tour.

It is worth of it. At the same time you'll be able to give a look to some of the most incredible places in Italy.

indovinate dove vado?

Una cara, carissima amica è stata a Parigi e mi ha portato i macarons di Ladurée di cui vado pazza, non tanto ( non solo) per i dolci ma soprattutto per la scatola che è BELLISSIMA.
Esiste in tanti colori ma questo è IL verde Ladurée, quello che è stato usato per gli interni del primo negozio.
Potete immaginare come ero contenta.
E ancora più contenta sono di andare a Parigi a fine mese per il SIMP.
Mia cugina Alessia ed io faremo una cosa da PAZZE.
Partiremo sabato sera da Genova per arivare a Parigi alle 10.30 di mattino. Dalla stazione ci precipiteremo al SIMP per poi correre di nuovo in stazione alle 18.30 per risalire sul treno che ci riporterà a casa. Per fortuna abbiamo prenotato le cuccette ma rimane comunque una cosa da pazze che solo la passione per le mini in parte giustifica.
Se mi sentirete criticare chi va in trasferta per le partite di calcio...tappatemi la bocca!

guess where I'm going?

A dear, dearest friend has been to Paris and she brought me Ladurée macarons which drive me crazy, not as much ( not only) for the sweets but mainly for the box which is BEAUTIFUL.
It comes in a lot of colours but this is THE Ladurée green, the one which has been used for the decor of their first shop.
You can guess how I was happy.
And I'm even happier because I'm going to Paris at the end of June.
My cousin Alessia and I will do somethig really CRAZY.
We'll leave Genoa on Sat evening to be in Paris at 10.30 am. From the station we'll run to the SIMP, to get back to the station in a rush at18.30pm in order to get on the train which will take us back home. Luckily we managed to book beds but it is still a nuthead thing that only a passion for minis can partly forgive.
If you will ever hear me criticize football fans following their team.....shut up my mouth !

marmellata di ciliegie

Qui a Genova il tempo è davvero troppo bello per restare in casa. Perfino per fare mini !
Oggi era Festa nazionale, la Festa della Repubblica, e ne abbiamo aprofittato per fare una gita sulle alture al Parco del Beigua.
E' un posto meraviglioso nei boschi dove il panorama è mozzafiato: nelle belle giornate si può vedere la Corsica.
Purtroppo non avevo la macchina fotografica e non posso mostrarvi nulla.
Nel Parco ci sono tanti locali ma il nostro preferito è l' agriturismo La Fonda dove abbiamo pranzato benissimo e comprato delle meravigliose cilegie.
Ne abbiamo comprato 3 chili ma a casa ,per fare la marmellata, ne sono arrivati poco più di 2....
sapete com'è con le ciliegie, una tira l'altra.
Così stasera ho fatto la marmellata e le mie dita rosso sangue sono testimoni.
Vorrei potervela far assaggiare: troooppo buona !

Here in Genoa the weather is truly too beautiful to stay at home. Even to make minis !
Today it was National Holiday, the Republic Holiday, and we took the chance to go to the hills at the Beigua Park.
It is a wonderful place with plenty of woods and the landscape in breathtaking: in good days you can see Corsica from up there. Unfortunately I had not my camera hence I cannot show you anything.
Inside the Park here are many restaurants but the one we like better is La Fonda where we had a gorgeous lunch and bought incredible cherries.
We bought 3 kilos but at home, to make jam, only a bit more than 2 kilos arrived...you know how is about cherries, one calls the other.
Thus tonight I made jam and my blood red fingers are witnesses of it.
I wish you could taste it: sooooo good !

Ieri sera abbiamo assistito ad uno spettacolo eccezionale.
Nella maestosa Sala del Maggior Consiglio del Palazzo Ducale si svolgeva il 10° Tango Festival.
Consigliati da due amici appassionati di tango siamo andati a curiosare...
Siamo rimasti senza parole.
Mai più ci saremmo aspettati tanta bellezza di suoni ed immagini.
La musica del tango è coinvolgente, appassionante, commovente, sensuale. Ti penetra nelle viscere, tocca delle corde di pura sensualità che non sapevi neanche di avere.
Le coppie di ballerini, dimentiche del mondo che li circondava, hanno mostrato a che altezza può arrivare l'arte della seduzione.
Era la prima volta che assistevo ad una esibizione del vivo e per la maggior parte del tempo ho trattenuto il fiato.

Yesterday night we attended at an exceptional show.
In the majestic Room of Maggior Consiglio at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa the 10 Tango Festival was held.
After the suggestion of two friends appassionate of tango we went to have a look.
We remained speechless....
We should have never expected such beauty of sounds and images.
Tango melody is enthralling, passionate, moving, sensual. It compenetrates yous guts touching cords of sensuality you did not even tought to have.
The dancers, oblivious of the world around them, have shown us all at which sky high level can the art of seduction arrive.
It was the first time I assisted at a live exibition and for most of the time I took back my breath.

Dopo aver visto la meravigliosa tenda di Sans mi vergogno un po' a mostrarvi i tappeti che ho comprato in Tunisia.
Io non sono amante dei souvenirs ma quando ho visto questi non ho capito più niente. Sono in seta e perfettamente in scala, troppo bello per essere vero.
Le scatoline invece gridavano " pouf, pouf" quando le ho viste e in effetti sembrano proprio dei sedili in pelle marocchini, solo un po' più luccicanti.
Sono stati il mio solo acquisto in vacanza.
A parte una couscoussiere in alluminio per 6 persone, una tagine in terracotta ( per 6 persone) ed un assortimento di spezie da ristorante ;o))

After looking at Sans's wonderful tent I'm ashamed of showing you the carpets I bought in Tunisia.
I'm not a souvenirs lover but when I saw these I did not understand anything more. They are made in silk and they are in perfect scale, too good to be true.
While the pillboxes where shouting at me "pouf.pouf" when I first saw them and they really look like Maroccon leather seats, only a bit more sparkling.
They have been my only holiday purchase.
A part from an aluminium couscoussiere for 6 people, an earthware tagine ( 6 people as well) and a spices assortment which could last for a restaurant ;o))

A casa

Carissimi amici, siamo di nuovo a casa. E' incredibile come passi in fretta una settimana.

Vi posso solo dire che siamo stati benissimo, che il mare era bellissimo, che i Tunisini sono molto ospitali, che il deserto è affascinante e che penso proprio di tornarci un domani.

Mi siete mancati tutti: ieri sera ho cercato di rimettermi in pari ed è stato un lavoraccio ma di grande soddisfazione.

Dearest friends, we are back home. It's incredible how fast can a week pass.

Sestri Levante

Ultimamente ho poco tempo per le mini perciò non ho niente da mostrare di mia produzione.

Vorrei allora condividere con voi uno dei più bei paesi della Liguria. A 30 min di macchina da Genova si può trovare un piccolo paradiso: Sestri Levante.

Un promontorio, due baie dai nomi romantici: la Baia del Silenzio e la Baia delle Favole. Una manciata di case colorate e la magia è fatta.

Fu fondato dai Romani che lo chiamarono Segesta Tiguliorum in onore di Segesta, dea delle messi ma fu Hans Christian Andersen, nel 1835, a dare il nome Baia dell Favole al piccolo golfo.

E' sempre stato amato dai turisti di ogni epoca ma per fortuna ha mantenuto il suo carattere autentico.

Amici miei, respirate un po' di aria di mare e pensateci per le prossime vacanze.

E non dimenticate di ingrandire le immagini.

Sestri Levante

Lately I have litte time for minis thus I have nothing of mine to show to you.

Then I'd like to share with you one of the most beautiful villages of Liguria. Only 30 min drive from Genoa you can find a small paradise: Sestri Levante.

A promontory, two baies with romantic names: Silence Bay and Fairytales Bay. A handful of coloured houses and the wizardy is done.

It was founded by Romans who called it Segesta Tiguliorum after Segesta, goddess of the Harvest but it was Hans Christian Andersen to give the Fairytales Bay its name in 1835.

It has always been loved by tourists of any age but it has luckly kept its own true character.

My friends, breath a bit of sea air and thinkabout it for the next holidays.

Tanti di voi mi hanno chiesto dove metterò i bellissimi dolci fatti da Kim.

Bel problema: non ho una casa per loro e non ho voglia di fare una room box.

Il mio progetto è quello di costruire una casa partendo da zero e so già perfettamente quale voglio costruire.

Quella che vedete è un'abitazione a 200 m da casa mia, ha circa 120 anni ma se li porta bene.
Il particolare che preferisco sono le decorazioni tromp d'oeil, tutto ciò che vedete, a parte i balconi, è dipinto. Potete cliccare sulla foto per vedere meglio i particolari.
Questo era un mezzo economico per avere case apparentemente ricche ed è un modo di pensare tipicamente Genovese.
Sono stata anche molto fortunata perchè sono riuscita a trovare la planimetria degli interni così, in teoria, potrei riprodurla esattamente. Non sarà così perchè diventerebbe enorme e in casa mia proprio non c'è spazio. Vorrà dire che l'adatterò un pochino.

Many of you have asked me where I'll place the beautiful sweets that Kim made for me.
Nice problem: I have not a house for them and I do not want to make a room box.
My project is to build a new house from scratch and I perfectly know what I'm going to build.
You are looking at a house which is 200 mt from my home, it has nearly 120 years but they become it.
The detail I like best are the tromp d'oeil decorations, everything you see, a part from balconies, is painted. You can click on the pic to see details .
This was a thrifty way to have richly decorated houses and it is tipycal of Genoese way of thinking.
I have also been very lucky to find the actual map of the interiors, theoretically I could reproduce it exactly. It will not be so because it would become enormous and I really have no place in my home.I shall have to adapt it a bit.

Palazzo Spinola in Pellicceria

Oggi finalmente sono andata a visitare Palazzo Spinola in Pellicceria. Da anni volevo andare ma, per una ragione o per l'altra, non riuscivo mai a ritagliare quelle 2 o 3 orette per farlo.

Per chi non lo sapesse, Genova è ricchissima di Musei e Palazzi museali, si dice che ne abbia addirittura più di Firenze, ben conservati e ben curati.

Uno di questi è Palazzo Spinola che fino al 1959 era di proprietà dei marchesi Spinola che per testamento lo donarono allo Stato Italiano affinchè potesse rappresentare l'esempio di una dimora nobiliare. Infatti nei 2 piani nobili non ci sono etichette o didascalie proprio per non intaccare l'atmosfera "domestica" che vi si respira.

Il palazzo è stato costruito nel 1593 e costantemente restaurato e decorato fino alla fine del 1800. Faceva parte dei Rolli per cui aveva anche funzioni di rappresentanza.

Purtroppo non è permesso fare fotografie all'interno, sono riuscita a farne solo un paio con la complicità della custode, ma fidatevi se vi dico che è una vera reggia e che vi sono custoditi capolavori di mobili, quadri e arredi.

Palazzo Spinola in Pellicceria

Today, at last, I managed to go and visit Palazzo Spinola in Pellicceria. It was years since I wanted to go but, for some reason or another, I have never been able to steal those 2 or 3 hours to do it .

For those who do no know, Genoa is very rich in museums and palaces, someone says more than Florence, well kept and preserved.

One of those is Palazzo Spinola which belonged to Marquises Spinola until 1959 when they left it in their will to the Italian Government in order to show the example of a noble house. In fact in the 2 main floors there are not labels or writings on pictures or furniture not to waste the "domestic" appeareance.

The Palace was built in 1593 and it has been constantely redecorated and refurbished until the end of 1800. It was part of the Rolli so it also had representative functions.

Alas it is forbidden to take pictures inside, I only managed to take a couple with the takecarer's complicity but you can trust me if I tell you thatit is a real royal paplace and that it contains unique masterpieces of furniture, pictures and decorations.

In some other post I'll explain what Rolli are, because it a only Genoise institution and a rather particular one.
I took the pic of the chandelier on Linda's sake: it is nearly 2 metres wide. Really lustrous.

1- amo Genova, la mia città. Amo il suo centro storico, il più grande d'Europa, i suoi angoli nascosti, il suo mare e perfino il carattere riservato dei suoi abitanti.

2- amo Londra. E' stata la città della mia giovinezza e  ho troppi bei ricordi per non amarla.

3- amo la Provenza, perchè la vita è piacevole e rilassata, i paesi sono curati e ospitali e Walter ed io vorremmo vivere lì la nostra vita da pensionati...tra circa 30 anni!

4- amo i mercatini di brocantage, mi diverte immaginare la passata vita degli oggetti.

5- amo i bambini, tutti i bambini, sono la più grande benedizione.

6-amo la focaccia, vero vanto Genovese e solo da noi è così buona !!

7- amo la mia famiglia e miei amici sopra ogni altra cosa, senza di loro sarei nulla.

1- I love Genoa, my own city. I love its historical center, the widest in Europe, its hidden corners, its sea and even the akward character of its inhabitants.

2- I love London. It has been the city of my youth and I have too many wonderful memories not to love it.

3- I love Provence, because life is pleasant and easy going, the villages are well kept and friendly and Walter and I would like to live there when we retire... may be in 30 years to come!

4- I love brocante markets, I have fun trying to imagine former life of objects.

5-I love children, all children. They are the biggest blessing.

6- I love focaccia, real Genoise pride. In no place it is as good as here !!

7- I love my family and friends above anything else, I would be nothing withot them.

Vorrei dire che io seguo con affetto e  sommo interesse tutti i blog , ho dovuto scegliere ma potrei aggiungerne taaaanti altri.

FINALMENTE !!!

Dopo SOLO 34 giorni dalla spedizione è arrivato a casa mia lo splendido, fantastico vaso che Linda mi aveva spedito.

Insieme c'era il suo fratellino, il portacandele più carino che abbia mai visto.

Sono davvero felice di queste meraviglie che, per ora, alloggeranno nel cassetto del tipografo e poi troveranno una dimora più adeguata.

Sono però furiosa con le Poste e la Dogana che mi fatto aspettare così tanto e mi ha fatto pagare €11.59 di tasse e diritti doganali !!! un vero furto.

Sappiate però che, se sulla dichiarazione doganale viene scritto un valore inferiore a €22.00, non si paga nulla.

Ricordatelo in caso di futuri swap fuori dalla Comunità Europea.

AT LAST !!!

After ONLY 34 days the  wonderful, beautiful vase that Linda sent me has arrived home.

Along with it there was its little brother, the sweetest candle holder I have ever seen.

I am truly happy of these wonders which, up to now, will take place in the type drawer and eventually they'll have a more proper accomodation.

I'm raging against Mail and Custom Office which have made me wait so long and that have made me pay € 11.59 = $15.00 of taxes and duties !!! a real robbery.

Anyway you have to know that, if you write a value lower than  €22.00, on the Custom label, than you do not have to pay anything at all.

Remember that in case of future swaps out of European Community.

Durante il fine settimana sono stata pigra, niente mini.

Domenica la giornata era troppo bella per stare a casa e infatti siamo andati sulle alture.

Nella foto potete vedere Genova dal campo pratica del Cus Golf. 

Per chi non la conoscesse vi dirò che Genova ha una forma strana: non  cresce intorno ad un centro ma si sviluppa in lunghezza. Infatti è stretta tra mare e colline.

Quella che vedete è a sua massima larghezza. Ciò è fonte di stupore per chi arrivando in aereo la vede per la prima volta : tanti non credono di essere arrivati ad una città.

Oggi invece ho finito di tappezzare il cassetto da tipografo per le mie mini. L'ho trovato, in pessime condizioni, da un robivecchi e come al solito il mio papà ha fatto il miracolo restaurandolo.

Ci sono tanti  vuoti, tanto spazio per nuove mini.

During the weekend I've been lazy, no minis.

Sunday was too much a gorgeous day to stay at home and we've gone to the hills.

In the pic you can see Genoa from the Cus Golf Practice Course.

For those who do not know Genoa I'll say that it has a strange shape: it does not grow around a center but it developes in length. In fact it is squeezed between sea and hills.

What you see is its maximum width. This is source of surprise for those who see it for the first time coming by plane: many do not believe they have arrived to the actual town.

Today I finished to paper my tipesetter drawer. I found it, in very poor conditions, in a thrifty shop and , as usual, my dad has worked out a miracle restauring it.

There are many empty holes, lot of space for new minis.

Chi non vorrebbe essere come lei?
Audrey è un'icona, un mito, una leggenda. Assolutamente inimitabile ma così piacevole da guardare e riguardare nei suoi film.
La cosa più incredibile, secondo me, è che pur sembrando assolutamente perfetta sia così amata dalle donne.
Perbacco, dovremmo odiarla, è un traguardo irragiungibile e invece... non possiamo fare a meno di ammirarla incondizionatamente.
L'unico modo che ho per tentare di assomigliarle è la preparazione del soufflè, vi ricordate Sabrina?
Anzi, forse sono più brava io e questa è una soddisfazione ;o))

40 gr burro
40 gr farina
300 ml latte
4 uova
50 gr parmigiano
50 gr ennemthal
100 gr prosciutto cotto
sale, pepe, burro, pangrattato

Preparare una besciamella con il latte, il burro e la farina.
Quando è pronta unirvi i formaggi tritati e il prosciutto a dadini. Unire sale e pepe a piacere.
Unire i tuorli uno per volta, mescolando bene per amalgamarli al composto.
Unire gli albumi montati a neve molto soda e versare il composto in uno stampo imburrato da 14/15 cm e coperto di pangrattato.
Fate attenzione a lasciare puliti 2 cm dal bordo per formare il camino altrimenti il soufflè non monterà.
Cuocere in forno a 165° per 35/40 min.
Mangiatelo appena sfornato.
Il mio non è altissimo perchè purtroppo il mio stampo è troppo largo.

Who would not love to be like her?
Audrey is an icon, a myth, a legend. Absolutely inimitable and yet so pleasant to look over and over in her movies.
The most incredible thing, to me, is how much she is loved by women even though she looks near to perfection.
My goodness, we should hate her, she is an unarrivable goal and yet... we cannot avoid to unconditionnally admire her.
The only mean I have to be a bit like her is to prepare a soufflè, do you remenber Sabrina?
Well, may be I'm even better than she was and that's a satifaction ;o))

40 gr butter
40 gr flour
300 ml milk
4 eggs
50 gr parmesean cheese
50 gr emmenthal
100 gr ham
sal, pepper, butter, grated bread

Prepare a bechamel sauce with milk, flour and butter.
When cooked mix in the grated cheese and the coarsely chopped ham. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the yolks, one by one, stirring well before adding the new one.
Add the whites wisked until they form very stiff picks and pour the batter in a ceramic mould ( 14/15 cm) buttered and covered with grated bread.
Pay attention to leave a clean border of at least 2 cm to make the socalled chimney and allow the soufflè to rise.
Cook in oven at a 165° for 35/40 minutes.
Eat it immediately out of the oven.
Mine is not that tall because my mould was too large.
