§ Forse qualcuno si ricorderà che stavo preparando una scatola per una sposa.
Il matrimonio è ancora lontano per cui me la sto prendendo con mooooolto calma.
Marta lo sa e non mi fa fretta.
Ho dovuto ordinare del materiale che ha impiegato mesi ad arrivare, e vi assicuro che non erano cose speciali, e poi mi sono persa nei miei ricami.
Due giorni fa però mi sono decisa e ho finito la sedia che sarà nella scatola.
Il monogramma M & A si nota poco ma dal vero la M di Marta è molto carina.
Spero piaccia anche a lei.
Stanotte probabilmente finirò il vestito da sposa, grazie a Marsha di Sassy Dolls che ci ha donato il tutorial.

Marta's chair

§ May be some of you will remember that I was doing a wedding box.
The wedding day is still far away hence I'm taking it with LOOOT of ease.
Marta knows and she has no hurry.
I had to order some material which took ages to come, and I can promise that it was not extraordinary stuff, and then I got lost in my stitchings.
But two days ago I made up my mind and I finished the chair which will be inside the box.
The monogram M & A is hardly notable but M of Marta is very pretty in true life.
I hope she will also like it.
Tonight I shall most probably finish the wedding gown, thanks to Marsha of Sassy Dolls who presented us with her tutorial.

§ Dear friends, tonight I needed to relax a bit and doing this little bags is really easy.

Try with me.

§ Questo è il materiale di cui avete bisogno: treccia di paglia, un pezzetto di stoffa di cotone, cordini per i manici, una forma di balsa a vostro piacimento. Questa l'ho fatta io ma potete anche usare tappi di ogni genere o tipo.

§ These are the materials you'll need: straw braid, a scrap of cotton fabric, cords for the handles, a balsa piece of your liking. This one I did myself but you can also use caps of any kind or material.
§ Fasciate strettamente il modello con la pellicola da cucina.

§ Tightly wrap your model with kitchen film.
§ Cospargetelo di colla vinilica e fasciatelo con la stoffa. Mi raccomando il dritto va a contatto con la pellicola perchè sarà la parte visibile dentro la borsina.

Incollate anche i manici.

§ Smear it with white glue and wrap it with the fabric. One warning, the right side must be in contact with the film cause it will be visible inside the bag.

Also glue the handles.
§ Quando sarà asciutta cominciate a fasciarlo con la treccia, non dovete accavallarla troppo, ogni giro dovete fissarlo con la colla.

§ When it will be dry, start wrapping it with the straw braid, you do not have to overlap too much, each run must be fixedwith some glue.
§ Arrivate fino in cima alla stoffa e fate asciugare bene. Questa è la colla che uso io,quando asciuga è trasparente e leggermente elastica.

§ Wrap till the top of fabric and let it dry thoroughly. This is the glue that I use. It dries clear and slightly elastic.

§ A questo punto siete pronte per andare al mare o a fare la spesa. Buon divertimento :o))

§ Now you are ready to go to the beach or to the local market. Have fun ! :o))

Davy, il marito di Eva è andato con Walter a giocare a golf. Noi, ossia Eva, Laura la sua adorabile bambina, i suoi genitori e suo fratello, Matteo ed io, siamo entrati all'Acquario e ne siamo usciti solo dopo 4 ore.

Dopo un rapido pranzo ci siamo riuniti e abbiamo gironzolato per il centro Storico. Purtroppo il Lunedì è giorno di chiusura per i musei e tanti negozi ma abbiamo fatto del nostro meglio.

La sera eravamo stravolti ma per quanto mi riguarda molto contenti.

Sono felice di aver incontrato un'amica di blog che si è rivelata una persona deliziosa.

excursion in Genoa

§After three days I have the time to tell you about the excursion with Eva and family.

Davy, Eva's hubby went with Walter to play golf. Eva, her lovely daughter Laura, her parents, her brothe, matteo and I, got in the Acquario and we got out after 4 hours.

After a quick lunch we gathered and we strolled around the Historical Centre. Unfortunately Monday is closure time for the Museums and most shops but we managed to do our best all the same.

At evening we were exhausted but, as for me, quite happy.

I'm very happy I had the chance of meeting a blog friend who has risolved to be a delighful person.

We both have wished a gathering with all of you: wouldn't it be gorgeous?

Non scrivo da TANTISSIMI giorni ma non so come mai non ho trovo il tempo di fare niente.

Non lavoro di più e la casa non più pulita del solito ma l'unica csa che riesco a fare è ricamare il cuscino per Jill.

In questo grigiore risplende una novità: Lunedì incontrerò Eva del blog Evilla Prunella e la sua famiglia e li scorterò per Genova.

Il programma è già fissato, per prima cosa l'Acquario, il più grande d'Europa, e poi tour passando dalla Genova medievale a quella rinascimentale fino all'800.

Walter mi ha già raccomandato di non stancarli troppo altrimenti potrei perdere un'amicizia.

Farò del mio meglio ;o))

PS la costruzione grigia lunga lunga nella foto è l'Acquario. Ve l'avevo detto che è grande!

I have neglected writing for MANY MANY days but I cannot find time for anything and I wonder why.

I'm not working more and the house is not cleaner than usual but the only thing I manage to do is to go on wih Jill's pillow ( .....it is nearly finished Jill).

In all this greyness a piece of news shines up: on Monday I shall meet Eva of blog Evilla Prunella and her family and I shall take them around Genoa.

The program is alread fixed, first thing the Acquario, the largest in Europe, and then a tour through Medieval, Renaissance and 1800 Genoa.

Walter reccomends me not to overtire them otherwise I could loose a friendship.

I'll do my best ;o))

PS the loooooong grey building in the pic is the actual Acquario. I told you it is big!

Piazza dei Miracoli

Abbiamo avuto un fine settimana molto impegnato. Sabato abbiamo lavorato tutto il giorno quindi siamo partiti per la Garfagnana per una notturna di golf. Avete capito bene, ci sono dei pazzi che giocano a golf di notte con le palline fluorescenti e noi, miseri raccattapalle, dobbiamo aiutare...
Poi domenica ci siamo spostati inVersilia per un'altra gara che è finita in tarda serata.
Per non rischiare di trovarci imbottigliati in coda abbiamo deciso di cenare a Pisa e ne è valsa la pena.
Non si può spiegare quanto sia bella la Piazza dei Miracoli al tramonto quando la folla dei turisti si dirada e la luce rosata accarezza le antiche pietre.
E' un'emozione da vivere.
E la cosa migliore è che si trova a solo ad 1 ora e mezzo da casa nostra.


We had a busy week end. We worked all day on Sat then we left to Garfagnana ( Tuscany) for a night golf match. Yes, you have read properly, there are some nuts who play golf at night with fluorescent balls and we, humble ball-boys, must help...
Then on Sunday we moved to Versilia for a new match which ended late in the evening.
To avoid a traffic jam we decided to have dinner in Pisa and it was worth of it.
I cannot explain how beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli (= Miracles Square) is at sunset when the tourists crowd leaves and the rosy light caresses the antique stones.
It is an emotion worth living.
And the best thing is that it is at 1.30 hour driving distance from our home.

Yesterday I had a nice surprise, I received a parcel in my mail box.

Quando Sylvia,qualche tempo fa, mi ha scritto chiedendomi un copriteiera per la casa sulla spiaggia mi sono sentita molto onorata.

I suoi lavori sono talmente belli che l'idea di mandarle uno dei miei lavoretti mi faceva tremare i polsi .

Ho deciso subito di ricamare un faro, perchè è un simbolo marinaro e perchè è l'icona della mia città.

Per poter ottenere il risultato che mi ero prefissa ho usato la garza di seta che essendo molto più fine del lino mi ha concesso di inserire maggiori dettagli.

Devo dire la verità, mi piace molto come è venuto e sono felice che anche Sylvia l'abbia apprezzato.

When Sylvia, some time ago, wrote me to ask a teacozy for the beach house I felt deeply honoured.

Her works are so beautiful that the idea of sending her one of my works made my wrists tremble.

I immediately made up my idea of stitching a lighthouse, because it's a navy simbol and because it's my own city icon.

To get the result I needed I used silk gauze which, being much finer than linen, has allowed me many more details.

To say the truth I am very happy of how it came out and I'm happier of Sylvia's appreciation.

Il piccolo maniero di cui si parla diventò una lussuosa residenza di campagna, Hampton Court.

Quest'anno non lo vedremo ma me lo ricordo davvero bellissimo.

la panca di Sylvia

Qualche tempo fa Sylvia ed io ci siamo accordate per uno swap.

Io le avrei mandato uno dei miei lavori e a lei ho chiesto una panca. Infatti dopo aver visto quella che aveva mandato a Mercedes me ne ero innamorata.

Oggi è arrivata, sana e salva, e per fortuna Matteo era in casa così non è ritornata in Posta.

Dovrò preparare dei cuscini ma prima dovrò decidere dove metterla: subito pensavo in cucina ma ora ho dei dubbi. Comunque ho un sacco di tempo per pensarci.

Sylvia's bench

Some time ago Sylvia and I agreed for a swap.

I should have sent her a work of mine and I asked her a bench. After seeing the one she sent to Mercedes I had fallen in love to it.

Today it has arrived, safe and sound, and luckily Matteo was at home otherwise it would have gone back to the Mail Office.

I shall have to do some pillows but first of all I shall have to decide where I can place it: at first I thought at the kitchen but now I'm doubtful. Anyway I have plenty of time to make up my mind.
