Mezeri e ricamo - Mezeri and stitching

Yesterday night I surfed on Goggle unable to get some sleep and I found a new image of a Stitcher.
It has been painted by a German artist Franz Xaver Simm who lived at the end of XIX century.
What  really fascinates me is the mezero with the tree of life on the background.
This painting has been probably produced in Germany or Austria but it is so becoming to my own country.
This is why it will be hung in my Casa Rossa , I can always pretend that she is an ancestor of mine ;o))

Oh, what a Lovely painting! I agree with you.... the background wall painting is GORGEOUS! I wish I could see it ALL! It is details like that which make you wonder what the whole house looked like.... Will you be putting "Tree of Life" wallpaper on your Casa Rossa Walls.... or Just Cloth wall Hangings? (I can't wait to see!)

I no longer can look at a tapestry (I call them all mezeri now) with a Tree of Life design and not think of you :). I wanted to do a post on an Indian textile exhibition that I went to last year but all the pictures taken in the museum was really bad. I am waiting for the book to be published so I can share with you a particular piece I saw.

I love the painting you found. Look at how dainty the lady is. She wore a pair of lacy gloves and bonnet even as she was sitting down stitching. I think she must not have been home. That piece of wall tapestry is an especially big one too. Interesting perspective when working on the scale of a mezeri.
