Buona serata!!

Have a nice evening!!

angolo morbido

cosy corner
Here I am, refreshed after two days spent in the French Riviera with Walter.
From time to time is nice to act like lovers, I felt a bit like Bridget Jones during her mini break.
Anyway as soon as I was back home I began sewing the cushions for Simona's corner ( coin in French). They are not matchy matchy, they must look as if they had clustered in a long time.
I wish she shall find it confy...

materasso

I've done the mattress!! I'm overjoyed! This will go on the top room along with a lot of cushions wich you'll see soon.
I have to thank Margaret Lew who sent me the file with the instructions to do it with pictures and drawings.

swap natalizio

Through Workshopminiature I joined a Christmas Swap.
We were a group of four, Rosa of Minicreazioni, Noemi from Seville, Sol from Mexico and I.
Unfortunately I never received Sol's parcel and I have to thank Italian Mail for this.
The little pumpkins are Rosa's while the bottles holder, the basket and the cute sock are Noemi's.
The cushion, the pudding with the box and the shopping bag are mine.

The ugly house
This is the new entry in my Lilliput Lane collection; it is the Ugly House and it has been presented to me by Walter who knows how much I love small houses.
This is in Wales, it has been built in1475 by two outlaw brothers who used it as a hideout.
Local legends tell that it has been built in one night according to a law that stated that, if a house was built "between sunset and the following sunrise", as long as it had walls, a roof and a smoking chimney, it became freehold of the builders.
I wish it could be that easy nowdays!

webzine

Grazie Virgi.

I'm really happy: on Workshopminiature has arrived the Christmas magazine where it has been published a tutorial of mine.
I feel very gratified. More over they have given to me a whole advertisement page, which I really didn't wait for.
I want to thank Virginia becauese the beautiful icecream cup is hers.
The tray is wholly mine but the icecream is hers fairy hands work. Thank you Virgi.

auguri

season's greetings
Some years ago I did this mini room box, little more than a frame, for a little girl who loved Santa Klaus.
It should be Santa's laboratory where he is working even though he has got out for a wee minute.
My little friend liked it very much, I wish you will enjoy it as well

finestre

windows
Even though I had a bitter cold which has kept me at home all the afternoon and has prevented me from going to monthly meeting with my fellow miniaturists, I managed to finish the fourth window of the yellow house.
In general they are pretty, they have that shabby look that I want to give to the whole room.
It must look like an old holiday house where nothing has been changed in the last 30 years but just for this reason is so cosy.
I hope I can catch it.

dentro la stanza

Oggi vi mostrerò i miei ricami all'interno della stanza rosa.

Inside the pink room box
Today I'll show you my needle work inside yhe pink room.
The firescreen is an English kit on silk gauze . Again on silk gauze, but finer, are the two silhouettes that have been my first attempt of mini stichery.
The cushion is embroidered on Aida 72 and you already know the tea cosy.
The nice potrait inside the mirror is Sabrina's, the dear friend who has shot these beautiful pictures.

pappa

Contiene ricette meravigliose e fotografie mozzafiato.

Well, I can't put any picture cause I should steal them and it doesn't sound nice, but I have to advice you a BEAUTIFUL blog: fior di zucca.blogspot.com
It conteins wonderful receipts and breathtaking photos.
Everything is written either in Italian or English.
Go and have a stroll, it is really worth doing it.

natale

I'm showing you our mini Nativity sets.
The purple one comes from Mexico and it has been bought in Cancun during a fabulous winter holiday. How I miss Caribbean sea during this time of year!
The other one has been made by Matteo and me when he was a toddler and it's the most precious of all. The Kings are still hidden in their box: they will come out the 6 January.

troppo lavoro

Lol, I'm working too much and I can't go on with my minis.
I'm at a dead point; yesterday night I've done three windows for the yellow house but I was so tired that I didn't managed to do the fourth.
I've worked in the shop even last Sunday, then there are the presents to think of and sometimes I have to do some housework as well :-((
The only thing worth mentioning that I've done today are my lasagne. Real scale for once!

happy birthday

Tanti auguri a me, tanti auguri a me....
Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me...
At last it is my birthday and that makes me merry.
My relatives, friends and colleagues have greeted me and I felt very much spoilt.
My dearest Walter has presented me with two new charms for my bracelet and everything goes right even if it's raining.
The roombox you see it has been done for Cristina two Christmases ago.
The picture on the background represents her children, the floor is done like hers real one and the sweets are the ones of Christmas time.

buon compleanno

Tanti auguri a me!!

Happy birthday to me!!
Tomorrow it will be my birthday. I've already celebrated it with Cristina, my dearest and oldest friend.
Practically we've grown up together and I really wouldn't know how to do without her.
A friend is someone who knows all your defects and none the less keeps loving you.
So now I'm 42 but I still don't feel them thus I keep playing with dolls.

jingle bells

Since I have no time for minis I'll keep you informed on my 1:1 decorations.
This is our Christmas tree, laid with balls already ancient and, for the most part, selfarranged.Every year I think of disposing some of them but truly I keep adding new ones.
On the background there is my work table, very untidy.

giochini

I'll show you what I've presented to myself in Basel with the excuse of my birthday.
The stove, fantastic, it's a present by Fiore and it's the copy of the tipical Basel stove. I've to find it a proper place.
I "need" all the rest to fill the blue kitchen and the green room which are in progress.
The Christmas balls are wonderful, as big as peas, and all hand painted.

I am back!
I've spent the last few days in Basel (Switzerland) at a dear friend's home and it has been lovely.
Fiorella is a dear who has spoilt me and Basel, on its side, has been a surprise; I should have never thought it could be so beautiful.
We have strolled in the historic center. We have crossed the Rein on a boat moved only by current, we have enjoied a splendid concert in the Duomo. And we have seen two sensationals museums: the PuppenhausMuseum and the Kirschengarten Museum.
One most beautiful than the other.

The Pink Room
Tomorrow morning I'll leave for Basel, a short holiday to meet a friend and to visit the Dolls Museum. I leave to your attention my youngest child, the pink room; look at it and then I'll show you the details.
See you next Monday:

It is already December, soon Christmas will arrive and the weather outside induce to nestle at home: what's better than a snack?
I built the tray for a tutorial on WorkShopMiniature which will be shown at Christmas; it is padded so you can have a quick meal in front of the tv, may be watching a good film.

Birthday present
At last they have arrived!
I was waiting Christel's famous cupcakes that I presented to myself as a birthday present which will be the 13 December.
They are BEAUTIFUL !! much tinier and cuter than I supposed them to be.
Thank you Christel, I'll cherish them.

divanetto

Vi ho mostrato i cuscini ma ho dimenticato il divano: eccolo qui.
I've shown the cushions but I forgot the sofa: here it is.

tendine

More needleworks, as I've already said it's my preferred work.
The curtain at the window has an inlaid of tiny striped fabric and our initials: Matteo, Walter and Rosanna.
The curtains under the sink are cross stiched on shirt fabric, while the rug, which is hardly visible, is done on Aida 72.

pioggia

Pioggia, pioggia, pioggia!

Rain, rain, rain.
It has been raining all the day long. I had two possibilities: tiding up the house or ...
Obviously the second one.
The Digestive box will go in the yellow house. The teapots have been a fun way to see if I was able to do them. I had never worked Fimo "vertically" and I didn't think I could do it.
First I've done the Brown Betty then the pumpkin, the plum and the green pepper.
I'll have to pay attention to make them straight.

copriteiera

This is my masterpiece up to now!
I spent more than 11 hours doing it, there are 14 change of colours and really I kept my eyes in my hands to do it: but I'm quite proud of it.
It is really wee and it makes a good effect in the pink room.

ricami

Lol, yesterday I didn't managed to write anything! I've been at work all the day long and at evening the pc have been taken up by Matteo. Well, it is his after all!
Thus today I'll show you the work I mostly like and that gives me more satisfaction.
I like embroidery, the tiniest, the best.
These are the cushion of a small bench in the pink room box. I enjoied doing it and the result seems quite good to me.
I hold the patterns since I was a child but only now I've found the way to use them. I kept them for rainy days.

the onion

Thanks to a dear friend of mine, Sabrina, I'm able to give you the proper translation of the poem " The Onion" . I hope you'll enjoy it as I do.

The onion, now that's something else
its innards don't exist.
Nothing but pure onionhood
fills its devout onionist
oniony on the inside
onionesque it appears
it follows its own daimonion
without our human tears

Our skin is just a coverup
for the land where none dare to go
our internal inferno
the anathema of anatomy
In an onion there is only onion
from its top to its toe
onionimous monomania
unanimous omninudity

At peace, at peace
internally at rest
inside it, there is a smaller one
of undimished worth
The second holds a third one
the third contains a fourth
a centripetal fugue
polipony compressed

Nature rotundest tummy
its greatest success story
the onion drapes itself in it's
own aureoles of glory
We hold veins, nerves, and fat
secrections' secret sections
not for us such idiotic
onionoid perfection

translation by Stanislaw Baranczak and Clare Cavanagh

A room with a view

Today I received the pictures for the landscape for the yellow house.
Simona will enjoy of a magnificent view, the Paraggi Gulf ( which is near Portofino) in a wonderful sunny day.
Blessed who can see it!

chapeaux

This is a homage to Sinnove and her review. In the first 2008 number there was a tutorial for the hat box with the chance of downloading the labels and this is the result.
I've done the hats this evening with left over materials and it is the first time that I try to do mini clothes.
I bet I will do better specially if I manage to find thinner fabrics.

chapeau

It' right that miniaturists have only one idea in mind but this lass is a bit exagerated!
A room box ON the head is something unseen before.
To imitate ... with some precautions !

Completamente cipolla
fino alla cipollità.
Cipolla di fuori,
cipollosa fino al cuore,
potrebbe guardarsi dentro
senza provare timore.

In noi ignoto e selve
di pelle appena coperti,
interni d'inferno,
violenta anatomia,
ma nella cipolla - cipolla,
non visceri ritorti.
Lei più e più volte nuda,
fino nel fondo e così via.

Coerente è la cipolla,
riuscita è la cipolla.
Nell'una ecco sta l'altra,
nella maggiore la minore,
nella seguente la successiva,
cioè la terza e la quarta.
Una centripeta fuga.
Un'eco in coro composta.

La cipolla, d'accordo:
il più bel ventre del mondo:
A propria lode di aureole
da sè si avvolge in tondo.
In noi - grasso, nervi, vene,
muchi e secrezioni.
E a noi resta negata

As I've alredy said we cannot live of minis and sometimes we should give some food to our souls and mind.
I don't love poetry, I much prefer literature which gives me the chance of dreaming, travelling and for a while living somebody's else life. Doesn't matter if it is a great author masterpiece or pure chick lit, what is important is to get emotions out of it.
As an alternative I love essays, from which I pretend to learn something ( and if it doesn't happen is not their fault).
That's all to say that if I have to choose among a library shelves I'll never choose poetry.
But there are always exceptions.
Let me share with you the poem " The Onion" by Wislawa Szymborska, Nobel Prize 1996.
I don't dare translating it but go and search for it in a proper version and we'll love it.

Here I am to speak again of minis.
Some time ago I jumped into Betsy Niederer's blog and I was left litterally wordless. Her food is... REAL, it makes you wanting to chew it.
Having some time to lose I've tried to make a cake hers style, aiming to that nice effect, spongy and softy.
The result is what you see... and that is the best out of four cakes! to my benefit I could say at my home there is a temperature of 26°c and Fimo melts even if is's put in the freezer.
Frankly there are no excuses, she is dramatically good.
Nothing else to add.

buongiorno

Buona giornata a tutti,
Tutto sommato poteva andare peggio! poteva chiamarmi Cavallo Pazzo!

Good Morning to everyone,
today opening my room I had the nice surprise of finding a new reader and the comment of a Norvegian friend. I should have never wait foreigner visitors even though, underneath, I had a hope for it and it's gratifying.
So I thought to translate my posts in English, I hope without too many mistakes.
First thing I should explain the origin of the name: why Giuggola?
Giuggiola is not only a fruit in Italian but, most important, is the nickname that my son Matteo gave me some years ago, after the film " Finding Nemo".
Yes, do you remember the funny blue fish, Doris, the one a little out of its wits, calling a small jelly fish "little giuggiola"? (of course in the italian version).
Matteo liked it so much that from then on I became his own little giuggiola.
After all it could have been worst! he could have call me Crazy Horse!
