Non proprio una miniatura ... - Not quite a miniature ....

§ Per prima cosa permettetemi di presentarvi le Rolla Sisters

Il nome non l'ho inventato io, non sono così egocentrica, ma è nato spontaneamente.

Siamo 6 amiche, con qualche aggiunta occasionale ;o), ci conosciamo da 22 .... 35+ anni (gulp !!!!) e cerchiamo di organizzare almeno un incontro al mese :o)

Da questi incontri è nata l'abitudine di scambiarci piccoli doni, belinate si dice a Genova, cose magari di poco valore ma pensate ad hoc per noi.

Per l'ultima cena insieme, poche ore fa, ho pensato a dei segnalibri .... ritratti in miniatura .... belinate ;o) .... insomma una sciocchezza ma che ci facesse sorridere !

§ First of all let me introduce the Rolla Sisters

The name wasn't invented by me, I am not as self-centered, but it is born spontaneously.

We are 6 friends, with some occasional addition ;o), we've been knowing each other for the last 22 .... 35+ years (gulp !!!!) and we try to organize at least one meeting per month :o)

From these meetings was born the custom of exchanging small gifts, belinate aka trifles are called  in  Genoese, may be things of little value but thought specifically for us.

For our last meal together, a few hours ago, I thought of bookmark .... miniature portraits ... belinate ;o) .... 

So silly but we did smile!

§ L'idea non è mia originale, l'ho tratta da un inserto di Casa Facile dove si insegnava a fare un vestitino di carta con la tecnica origami.
Il mese scorso avevo chiesto ad ognuna di loro di mandarmi una foto in primo piano suscitando grande curiosità... chissà cosa si aspettavano  ;o)

La sorellina Sabrina ( grazie gioia ) ha realizzato le faccette e in un pomeriggio trascorso insieme ((^_^)) abbiamo montato e decorato le Rolla Dolls, una per ognuna di noi

§ The idea is not my original, it was in an insert from Casa Facile where it was taught  how to fold a paper dress with origami technique.
Last month I asked each one to send me a close up picture thus arousing lot of curiosity ... who knows what they were waiting for  ;o)

Sister Sabrina (thanks love) made up the little faces and during an afternoon spent together ((^ _ ^)) we have assembled and decorated the Rolla Dolls, one for each of us

§ Il retro è foderato di stoffa adesiva e il becco d'oca è un colpo di genio di Sab perchè permette di attaccare la bambolina ovunque.

Sono piaciute ???
Direi di sì  ;o)))

§ The back is lined with adhesive fabric and the hair clip is a stroke of genius by Sab because it allows to hang the doll wherever you want.

Were they appreciated ???
I would say yes ;o)))

Cioccolatini ? - Chocos anybody ?

§ In attesa di riuscire a scattare foto decenti delle nuove miniature Londinesi vi mostro il mio primo regalo di Natale,dono di una coppia di clienti/pazienti

Quando ho aperto il pacco non riuscivo a crederci, per la prima volta avevo un oggetto uguale ad una miniatura e non viceversa ;o)

When I opened the parcel I couldn't believe it, for the first time I had an object identical to a mini and not viceversa ;o)

§ Ahimè questa non è casa mia anche se lo vorrei.
Mi piace proprio tutto, dalla casetta di pan di zenzero al lampadario con le lattiere appese, alla tendina con le tazze.
Non è casa mia ma è una bella immagine , allegra e serena , come spero sia il vostro Natale.

§ Dopo un annetto sono stata a Parigi con una buona amica .......

§ After one year  I went to Paris with a good friend ........

o ....... incontrandone un'altra ........
o ........ meeting another one ..........

o ........ e poi tanti altri :o))
o  ........ and then many others :o))

o Ho ricevuto ospiti meravigliosi da molto lontano
o I had wonderful guests from far away

o e poi ho volato verso la loro città di luci
o then I flew to their city of lights

o  per conoscerli meglio insieme ai loro cari
o to know them better along with their beloved

o  Ho giocato a fare la modella ;o)
o I played the model  ;o)

o Ho visto paesi incantati
o I saw fairy places

o  Ho pranzato con persone deliziose che venivano dall'altra parte del mondo per vedere la mia cittadina di provincia
o I had lunch with delightful people from the other side of world who came to see my provincial town

o E poi ho ritrovato amiche di penna che abitano quasi vicino e mooolto lontano
o And then I met penpals who live almost near and veeeeeery far

o Ho conosciuto una persona di enorme talento e che mi ha regalato grandi ispirazioni
o I met a woman of great talent who gives me great inspirations

o in una bellissima città sull'acqua.
o in a beautiful city built on water.

§ E tutto questo , e molto altro che potete leggere nei miei post passati , solo perchè ho deciso di aprire un blog !!!
§ And all this , and much more which you can read of in my late posts, just because I decided to open a blog !!!!

§ Non passa giorno in cui io non sia felice di quell'impulso un po' egocentrico che mi ha spinto ad aprire un blog.
Io, che non sapevo neanche accendere un computer !
La blogsfera mi ha regalato grandi gioie , meravigliose amicizie, indipendentemente dal fatto che restassero virtuali o si trasformassero in un incontro reale.
Mi ha ridato la voglia di sperimentare , di giocare , di creare.
Mi ha dato fiducia in me stessa , nelle mie capacità e grandi aspettative per il futuro.

§ Every day I am happy for that egocentric impulse which led me to starting a blog.
Me, who wasn't even able to switch on a pc !
Blogland has given me great joys , wonderful friendship , either virtual or made real.
It has given me back the will of experimenting, playing , creating.
It has given me self esteem , trust in my own capabilities and great expectations for the future.

§ Per ringraziare tutti voi,  senza cui niente di tutto questo sarebbe successo,  lancerò un blog candy aperto a tutti i miei lettori , dovete solo scrivere un commento a questo post ed avete tempo fino al 8 Dicembre.

Stiamo bene - We are fine

§ Grazie a tutti per i messaggi e le mail, siete di tesori.
La mia famiglia sta bene , chi conosce Genova sa che è costruita su colli e noi siamo un po' più alti della zona del disastro.
La città adesso sta aspettando. mentre la pioggia ha ridotto l'intensità.
La Protezione Civile dice che il peggio deve ancora arrivare e noi tutti speriamo che si stiano sbagliando.

§ Thank you for your messages and mails.
My family is fine , who knows Genoa is aware that it is built on hills and we are a bit higher than the disaster zone.
The city is now waiting while the rain has lowered down a bit.
The Civilian Service says that the worst is still to come and we all hope that they are wrong.

§ Stasera sono andata ad una festa di compleanno ed ho incontrato Paolo, un amico,un  ingegnere, un pittore e, come ho scoperto oggi, un artista del vetro.

I suoi gioielli sono splendidi , azzardati ed avventurosi.

Esagerati come una Luna Blu.

§ Tonight I went to a birthday party and I met Paolo, a friend, an engineer , a painter and , as I found out tonight , a glass artist.

His jewels are splendid , excessive and adventurous.

Excessive like a Blu Moon.

§ Primo: io non festeggio Hallowen.

Non mi appartiene, non ne capisco le motivazioni e , per quanto abbia provato ad informarmi, non ne apprezzo il significato.

In Italia ha preso piede solo come occasione di fare un po' di baldoria per i comuni mortali e per fare un sacco di soldi per le industrie collegate al divertimentificio.

§ First : I do not celebrate Hallowen.

It doesn't belong to me , I don't understand it and , as much as I tried to get some information , I do not appreciate its significance.

It has become popular in Italy as an occasion to go on a binge for adults and to let industries connected with the " merriment" make heaps of money.

§  Premesso ciò stasera , di ritorno da una passeggiata , W ed io abbiamo trovato un cartellino sul portone che annunciava l'arrivo di " Fantasmini, Maghetti e Streghette".
Come resistere ad un appello di questo genere ? siamo corsi al super ed abbiamo comprato cartocci di caramelle. Dopodichè ho ripescato dal fondo della dispensa questa vecchia lampada per segnalare la via.
A tutto posso resistere tranne che a dei musetti delusi.

§ Said that tonight , coming back from a walk , W and I found an advice on the entrance door  heralding the arrival of "Little Ghosts, Wizards and Witches".
How could we possibly resist ? we run to the supermarket and bought bags of candies. Then I dug out of my closet this old lamp to sign the road.
I can resist to everything but a deluded little face.

§ Catherine ha recentemente parlato dei kit della McQueenie e siccome sono curiosa come una scimmia mi sono precipitata a comprarne un paio.

Peccato che ne abbia ordinati così pochi...sono facili, veloci da costruire e danno GRANDE soddisfazione.

§ Recently Catherine wrote about McQueenie kits and , being as curious as a monkey , I run and bought a couple of them.

Alas I took so few ... they are easy, quick and they are of GREAT satisfaction.

§ Ho comprato uno stand per le piante e mi sono precipitata a  costruirlo.

§ I bought a plant stand and I hurried at building it.

§ Ed ecco il motivo: il mio porta piante in scala 1:1. Risale ai primi 900 ed apparteneva alla bisnonna Teresa.

 Sì, sempre lei, quella che con il marito doveva emigrare a San Francisco.

In realtà era una coppia ma mia cugina ed io ce li siamo spartiti dopo una lotta all'ultimo sangue.....

§ This is the reason : my plant stand in 1:1 scale. It dates back to the beginnng of 900 and it belonged to my Greatgranmother Teresa.

Yes, it's always she, the one who would have to move to San Francisco with her husband.

Actually they were a pair but my cousin and I shared them after a last blood fight ......

Prima...... - Before.......

Mi avete chiesto le foto della nostra camera.
Beh, questa è la parete che subirà il trattamento di bellezza.
La nostra camera è MOLTO piccola per cui tappezzare tutto sarebbe risultato un tantino opprimente ma questa parete rifletterà la luce e penso ci piacerà da morire.
Ora dobbiamo solo aspettare la tappezzeria che arriverà alla fine del mese.... forse....
Ma non abbiamo fretta :o)
I quadri alle pareti sono disegni a penna di un amico e rappresentano la Sacra Famiglia, dovranno trovare un'altra sistemazione ma sarà un divertimento anche questo :o)

You asked me pics of our room.
Well, this is the wall which will receive the beauty treatment.
Our room is VERY small hence decorating everything would result quite stuffy but this wall will reflect light and I think we shall love it to bits.
Now we only have to wait for the wallpaper which will be here at the end of month.... may be .....
But we are not in a hurry  :o)
The prints on the wall are pen drawings by a friend and they depict the Holy Family, they will have to move but that will be fun too :o)

Niente miniature per una volta.....

Per chi non lo sapesse , un bel numero di persone immagino ;o) , di fronte a casa mia c'è un negozio di tappezzerie e colori molto ben fornito e in cui lavora un gruppo di uomini gentilissimo.

Gentilissimi perchè sono così pazienti da sopportare le mie frequenti incursioni, le mie richieste di cataloghi vecchi  adatti per le mini e le mie richieste di consigli.

Tutto questo da circa 20 anni e sempre con il sorriso sulle labbra. 

Insomma sarebbero da sposare.

Finita la premessa vi mostro un catalogo realmente eccezionale, nuovo di zecca e di cui mi sono innamorata perdutamente.

No minis just for once .....

For those who don't know , I big bunch of you I guess ;o) , just in front of my condo there is a decorating shop very well stocked of wallpapers and colours and where a group of very kind men work.

Very kind because they are so patient to stand my frequent incursions, my asking for old catalogues suitable for minis and my need for advice.

All this for nearly the last 20 years and always with a smile on their lips.

Well, they would be really worth marrying.

That being stated I want show to you a really exceptional catalogue, brand new and of which I madly fall in love.

§  Per fortuna c'era il maritino con me così gli ho subito potuto mostrare quello che mi piaceva di più ed evitarmi così la noia delle spiegazione e delle descrizioni.
Doppia fortuna anche a lui piacciano le stesse cose che piacciano a me, anni di addestramento, ops insegnamento, sortiscono buoni frutti ;o)
Insomma per farla breve, oggi ho ordinato i rotoli di tappezzeria necessari per ricoprire la parete dietro la testata del letto.
Non penso che piacerà a tutti, è "un po' " pesantuccia, ma il mio amore per gli alberi finalmente si potrà manifestare.
Non vedo l'ora che arrivi (((^_^))))

§ Luckily there was hubby with me so I could show him immediately what I liked best and I saved myself from the bore of explaining and describing what I saw.
Double luck that he likes the same things I do, years of training, ops teaching, have given good fruits ;o)
To make long story short , today I  placed an order for the rolls I need to cover the wall behind our bed.
I don't think everybody will like it, it's a "bit" bold, but my love for trees will at least show up.
I cannot look forward for it (((^_^)))

§ Non sto facendo miniature...non sto facendo le pulizie di cui la mia casa ha disperato bisogno... non sto facendo gli orli ai pantaloni del camice di Walter...

Sto facendo una cosa che non mi ero mai concessa; mi sto viziando !!

Mi sto concedendo tempo, affetto e qualche regalino.

Oggi sono stata a Milano dove mi aspettava un'amica di blog venuta dalla brumosa Scozia.

La città ci ha accolto con il suo volto migliore, un sole primaverile ed un'aria allegra.

Vi mostro il Duomo , meraviglia gotica che è stata da poco ripulita e restaurata e riportata così al suo antico splendore.

Abbiamo chiacchierato, passeggiato, mangiato gelato, curiosato nelle splendide vetrine di questa bella città.

E mi sento dannatamente meglio !!!

I'm doing something which I never let myself do; I'm spoiling myself !!

I'm conceding myself time, affection and some presents.

Today I was in Milan where a blog friend come from misty Scotland was waiting for me.

The city has welcomed us with its best look, a springy sun and a merry face.

I'm showing you the Duomo, gothic wonder which has been recently cleaned and restaured and brought back to its former splendour.

We chatted, walked, eaten icecream, browsed in the wonderful windows of the great shops of this beautiful city.

And I feel damn good !!!!
