30 Maggio

§ Qualche anno fa, circa 20 anni fa, la mia mamma andò in Ungheria.

Era un paese già visitato ed amato ed era curiosa di vederlo dopo la caduta del Muro.

Tornò entusiasta di tutto ciò che aveva visto e dei cambiamenti che si potevano intuire.

Nei suoi racconti brillava un ricordo: si era recata in una galleria d'arte dove esponeva un'artista Ungherese che lavorava la terracotta.

Lì aveva ammirato una piccola statua rappresentante una madre ed una figlia.

La peculiarità risiedeva nell'età di entrambe; la figlia era anziana ed era difficile riconoscere l'una dall'altra.

Non ho mai dimenticato il suo racconto perchè la sua emozione mi aveva profondamente colpito.

La mia mamma non ha mai visto invecchiare la sua ed io non ho potuto invecchiare con la mia.

Non abbiamo potuto guardarci allo specchio insieme e sorridere alle reciproche rughe che ci avrebbero rese ancor più simili.

Dedico un abbraccio ed un saluto alla mia mamma e a tutte le amiche che, come me, non hanno potuto invecchiare con una persona tanto amata.

§ Some years ago, nearly 20 years, my mum went to Hungary.

It was an already visited country and a loved one and she was curious of seeing it after the Wall fall.

She came back enthusiast of everything she saw and of the changes which could be foreseen.

In her memories something was shining; she went into an art gallery where a Hungarian artist was exposing her terracotta works.

She had admired a small statue featuring a mother and a daughter.

The peculiarity stood in the age of both; the daughter was aged and it was difficult to tell one from the other.

I never forgot her tale because her emotion struck me deeply.

My mum never saw her mum aging and I could not age with mine.

We could not get old together and smile at each other's wrinkles which would have made us even more similar.

I dedicate a hug and a goodbye to my Mum and to all the friends who, like me, could not age with a so much loved person.

preparativi - preparations

§C'e un angioletto vicino a me che mi aiuta ogni qualvolta ne abbia bisogno.
Io le propongo le mie idee, più o meno strampalate, e lei mi ascolta con serietà, mai che si sia messa a ridere, e traduce le mie richieste in immagini.
Io sono negata nell'uso del computer mentre lei sembra avere una bacchetta magica.
Stamattina sono nati i biglietti da visita per il Simp.
Solo per la scelta del carattere abbiamo impiegato mezz'ora buona, mentre del topino ero certissima; ha gli occhiali proprio come me.
Grazie mille Sabrina, sei sempre un tesoro.

§There is a little angel beside me who helps me whenever I need it.
I advance my ideas, more or less cockeyed, and she listens to me seriously, it never occured that she laughed at me, and trasforms my ideas in images.
I am a total failure when it comes to pc while she looks like having a magic wand.
This morning cards for Simp were born.
It took us a good half a hour simply to choose the font, while I was certain of the little mouse; he wears glasses as I do.
Thank you very much Sabrina, you are always a darling.

strizza da Simp - Simp fright

§ Ormai il Simp è alle porte e, mannaggia a me, comincio ad agitarmi.

Non ci sarebbe assolutamente il motivo; in fondo posso considerarlo come la possibilità di trascorrere due giorni di vacanza con una cara amica.

Ma tant'è....

In più ho un grosso complesso di inferiorità.

I miei lavori, al momento sono 48 pezzi, stanno in una tasca !!!!

Una espositrice di lungo corso ha cercato di rassicurarmi dicendo che non è importante la quantità bensì la qualità.

Bel discorso, ma se poi non piacciono ? Ho dedicato ore e ore di lavoro a questi mini cosi e vorrei che strappassero un sorriso.

§ Simp is already at the door and, darn me, I begin to worry about it.

There wouldn't absolutely be reason for it ; after all I can always consider it as the chance of spending a couple days of holiday with a dear friend.

But anyway.....

More over I have an huge inferiority complex.

My works, at the moment there are 48 of them, can be kept in one pocket !!!

A long term expositor tried to cheer me up saying that quality is important, not quantity.

Nice speech, but what if nobody likes them ? I devoted hours and hours of work to these mini thingies and I'd like them to bring up a smile.
§ In più c'è un altro problema: il tavolo.

Non è enorme, 85x85 cm, ma paragonato ai miei copriteiera è il deserto del Sahara.

Da questo nasce la necessità di riempirlo.

Così ieri notte ho costruito uno stand. E' pieghevole, di cartone e carta riciclata ( Mercedes, non ho comprato niente, avevo tutto in casa ^ _^) per poterlo mettere in un trolley.

§ And then there is another problem: the table.

It isn't huge, 85x85 cm, but compared to my T-cozies it's the Sahara desert.

Hence the necessity of filling it.

Yesterday night I built up a stand. It's foldable, made in cardboard and recicled paper ( Mercedes, I did not buy anything, I had everything at home ^_^) to place it in the trolley.
§ Sopra ci saranno il mio lettino rosa, con i nuovi cuscini ricamati e la meravigliosa panca di Sylvia che mi ha ispirato due cuscini che adoro e che mi hanno tenuta impegnata per un totale di circa 23 ore, arghhh!

§ On top of it will be my little pink bed, with its new stitched pillows, and the wonderful bench by Sylvia which inspired me two pillows which I love and which have kept me busy for nearly 23 hours, arghhh!
§ Ne costruirò un altro, più basso, su cui troverà posto un tavolo con le sue seggioline.

I'll build a new one, lower in size, on which a table with its chairs will take place.

Vi posso dire che sto bene e che , semplicemente, ho avuto giorni molto pieni.

Così pieni da non lasciarmi il tempo di fare nulla che non fosse indispensabile.

Questo mi ha stancata un po' più di quanto non mi piaccia ammettere e ha fatto sì che mi distaccassi dal blog e dalla blogsfera.

Continuo a leggervi tutti la mattina presto, prima di cominciare il mio tran tran ma perdonatemi se non riesco a scrivervi.

§ L'ho visto da lontano .....

Era chiuso in una gabbia, poverino .....

Mi sono avvicinata con cautela temendo che fosse un miraggio, così bello e luminoso .....

E invece si è lasciato avvicinare, toccare e mi ha sorriso nella luce del sole !

Peccato che abbia dovuto rimetterlo nella sua gabbietta, ormai eravamo amici ....

§ I saw it from far away .....

It was closed in a cage, poor thing ....

I cautiosly went nearer fearin it might be a mirage, so beautiful and shiny .....

And instead it let me come closer, touch it and it smiled at me in the sun light !

It's a pity I had to place it back in its cage, we were already become friends .....

§ Questa MERAVIGLIA, a cui la foto non dà assolutamente risalto, era in vetrina nella Boutique Dior di Portofino dentro una gabbia a uccelli.

Si chiama Diorette e fa parte di una collezione ispirata a Milly-la Foret, il giardino di Christian Dior.

E' in oro e smalti e il mio cuore di miniaturista si è sciolto vedendo il retro: l'interno dell'anello non è piatto ma è formato dagli steli dei fiori, venature delle foglie comprese !

Giuro che non so se fosse più bello l'interno o l'esterno.

La commessa è stata adorabile ! mi ha permesso di provarlo, giocarci, studiarlo e perfino portarlo fuori dalla boutique per ammirarlo al sole!

Che pena restituirlo !!! ma € 4.800,00 sono un po' troppi per me :o(

§ This WONDER, which pic does not give it its credit at all, was in the window, inside a bird cage, at the Boutique Dior in Portofino.

Its name is Diorette and it's part of a collection inspired by Milly-la-Foret, Christian Dior's garden.

It's made in gold and enamels and my miniaturis's heart melted looking the back: the inside of the rind it isn't flat but it's made up by the flowers stems, including leaves skeins !

I don't know what was more beautiful, either the inside or the outside.

The salegirl was adorable ! she let me try it on, play with it, sudy it and even taking it outside to admre it with the sun light !

It was painful to give it back !!!! but € 4.800,00 are a bit too much for me :o(

gita di un giorno - one day trip

§ Oggi, FINALMENTE, è arrivata la Primavera !!!

Il sole era caldo, il cielo terso ed azzurro e tutto invitava ad uscire di casa.

Cosa fare di meglio se non andare al mare ?

E così siamo saliti in moto e abbiamo raggiunto Camogli, la Casa delle Mogli, a causa delle spose che rimanevano ad aspettare i loro uomini che erano in mare.

§ Today, AT LAST, Spring has arrived.

The sun was warm, the sky clean and blue and everything invited us to get out from home.

What could we do better than going to the seaside ?

Hence we climbed on our scooter and went to Camogli, Casa delle Mogli aka Wives' House, because of the spouses who remained at home waiting for their men who were far away sailing.

§ Durante il viaggio in traghetto abbiamo fatto conoscenza con una coppia deliziosa proveniente dal Colorado, USA. Non erano mai venuti in Liguria e sono stati fortunati, hanno trovato una giornata così bella che sembrava finta !

Dedicato a tutti coloro non sono mai venuti in Liguria e che si innamorerebbero se lo facessero.

§ During the trip we made acquaintance with a lovely couple from Colorado, USA. It was their first time in Liguria and they were lucky. They have found a gorgeous day, so beautiful that it looked a fake !

§ Un paio di sere fa non riuscivo a dormire così ho acceso la televisione, cosa che accade molto raramente, e ho guardato il programma di Nigella Feasts.

Mi piace Nigella, ha un'aria sana e sembra davvero mangiare non solo fare finta.

Presentava delle ricette dolci facili facili e ha preparato queste cupcakes.

Il procedimento è così facile che oggi ho provato a farle.

§ A couple of nights ago I couldn't sleep so I switched on the telly, something which seldom happens, and I watched at Nigella Feasts' show.

I like Nigella, she has a healthy look and really seems eating and not only pretending to do it.

She presented some easy dessert recipes and she baked these cupcakes.

The proceding is so simple that today I tried to bake them.
125 gr farina # 4 oz flour

125 gr zucchero # 4 oz sugar

125 gr burro morbido # 4 oz soft butter

1 cucchiaino di lievito # 1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cucchiaino di bicarbonato # 1/2 teaspoon carbonate

2 cucchiani di estratto di vaniglia # 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 uova # 2 eggs

§ Setacciate farina, zucchero, lievito e bicarbonato. Mettete tutti gli ingredienti nel robot da cucina e mescolate bene.

Finito !! suddividete il composto, solo una cucchiaiata nelle coppette di carta per cupcakes.

A me ne sono venute 16.

Infornate per 15 min in forno a 200°.

§ Sieve flor, sugar, baking powder and carbonate. Put all the ingredients in a mixer and mi well.

Done !!! share the dough, just a spoon, into the cups.

I made 16 cupcakes.

Bake for 15 min in the ven at 200°.

Glassa Royal Icing

2 albumi , 375 gr zucchero a velo, il succo di 1/2 limone

# 2 egg whites, 375 gr powder sugar, 1/2 lemon juice

§ Sbattete zucchero e albumi per 5 min, aggiungete il succo di limone e sbattete ancora per 2 min.

Decorate le tortine con uno strato spesso di glassa. Io ho aggiunto degli zuccherini per un po' di colore.

§ Beat well sugar and egg whites for 5 min, add the lemon juice and beat for another 2 min.

Decorate the cupcakes with a thick layer of icing. I added some colour just for fun.

§ Linda ha completato la sua splendida casa, La Petite Maison.

Penso che tutti noi la conosciamo e abbiamo passato innumeri ore ad ammirarla.

Ebbene, qualche tempo fa, Linda scrisse un post dicendo che aveva deciso di vendere alcuni dei mobili in suo possesso e che non pensava le sarebbero stati più utili.Oltretutto sta per traslocare a breve e meno ti devi portare dietro, tanto meglio è.

Mi sono precipitata !!! non so se la mia è stata la prima email ma sicuramente non è stata l'ultima.

§ Linda has completed her wonderful house, La Petite Maison.

I think that we all know it and have spent countless hours admiring it.

Well, some time ago, Linda wrote in a post that she had made up her mind selling some of the pieces of furniture in her behold since she thought they could be no more useful to her. More over she is going to move shortly and the less burden you have, the better.

I rushed !!! I don't know if mine has been the first mail but surely it hasn't been the last one.
§ E oggi, di ritorno da un lungo viaggio in treno, ho trovato questa piccola meraviglia ad aspettarmi sullo zerbino.

§ And today, coming back from a long railway trip, I found this little wonder on my doormat.

Un cottage piccolo piccolo, uguale a quelli della mia collezione di Lilliput Lane e che andrà nella MIA stanza della Casa Rossa.

Sì, avrò una stanza per me finalmente ! anche se mini :o(

§ And since Linda is Linda, that is a over kind lady, she sent to me two surprises.

A teeny tiny cottage, exactly like the ones of my Lilliput Lane collection and it will go in MY room in the Casa Rossa.

Yes, I shall have a room on my own at last ! even though in mini :o(

§ E poi questa FAVOLOSA coppa di vetro rossa che starà benissimo insieme al quadro della Melagrana.

piccole tentazioni - small temptations

§ Oggi è stato il mio primo giorno di lavoro e devo ammettere che mi è pesato.

Ho ancora il fiato corto e la tosse e la prima cosa che ho dovuto fare è stato telefonare ai clienti che mi avevano cercato in settimana; ho impiegato un'ora ! Alla fine della mattina ero di nuovo senza voce allora mi sono fatta un regalino ;o)

Sono andata a trovare Beatrice , che è proprio vicina al mio posto di lavoro, e mi sono regalata questo set.

Guardate la teiera, la cosa che mi ha fatto innamorare è il minuscolo foro di uscita del vapore sul coperchio , mai visto prima in una mini. In più il beccuccio è forato fino all'interno.

Una vera delizia ^_^

§ Today it has been my first working day and I have to admit that I suffered it.

I'm still short of breath and with a cough and the frist thing I had to do was calling all the customers who looked for me last week; it took me one hour! At the end of the morning was voice less again, then I presented myself with a gift :o)

I went to meet Beatrice , who is really close my working place, and I allowed myself this set.

Look at the teapot, what made me fell for it was the teeny tiny hole to let the steam out on the lid, never seen before in a mini. More over the spout is hollow to the inside.

A real delight ^_^

§ Un post diverso tanto per non parlare sempre di mini.

Oggi non avevo voglia di cucinare per la cena allora ho proposto ai miei uomini, notoriamente buone forchette, un pic nic.

Così stasera abbiamo mangiato toast. Ma mi sembrava un menù un po' misero .... ho aggiunto una torta salata, anzi un cake come si chiamano ora.

La ricetta viene da uno dei miei libri favoriti, comprato in Francia per pochi spiccioli e pieno zeppo di idee facili, veloci e deliziose.

§ A different post to change subject from minis just for once.

Today I didn't want to cook a proper dinner then I proposed my men, notoriously good eaters, a pic nic.

Tonight we had ham and cheese toasted sandwiches: but it looked like a meagre menu.... I added a savoury cake.

The recipe comes from one of my best loved cooking books bought in France for a song and packed full of easy, quick and delicious ideas.

§ Dopodichè mi sono ricordata di quante volte Matteo mi aveva chiesto il suo dolce preferito, il cheesecake. Poverino, davvero infinite volte !

Cuore di mamma ha provveduto ;o)

§ Afterwards it occured to me of how many times Matteo had asked for his best loved dessert, the cheesecake. Poor thing, really countless times !

Mum's heart has provided for it ;o)
§ E ora le ricette :

§ And now the recipes :

CAKE AUX LARDONS ET AUX OLIVES

200 gr farina - 200 grs flour

1 sacchetto di lievito istantaneo - 1 packet of rising agent

3 uova - 3 eggs

10 cl latte - 10 cl milk

10 cl olio - 10 cl oil

100 gr di pancetta affumicata a cubetti - 100 gr diced bacon

100 gr olive nere snocciolate - 100 gr black olives stoneless

100 gr olive verdi snocciolate - 100 gr green olives stoneless

100 gr groviera grattuggiato - 100 gr grated gruyère

1 noce di burro per lo stampo - bit of butter for the mold

sale e pepe - sale and pepper

§ Mescolate farina e lievito in una ciotola. Scaldare il forno a 210°.

In un'altra ciotola sbattete le uova con il latte e l'olio, versate sulla farina. Salate, pepate e mescolate bene.

Fate dorare i dadini di pancetta senza condimenti in modo da far sciogliere il grasso poi sgocciolateli su una carta assorbente.

Aggiungete il groviera grattuggiato, le olive e la pancetta mescolando delicatamente.

Imburrate ed infarinate uno stampo da plumcake, versate il composto ed infornate per 45 min.

Lasciare intiepidire poi sformate su una griglia finchè non è freddo.

Servitelo come aperitivo o antipasto.

§ Mix flour and rising agent in a bowl. Preheat the oven at 210°.

In another bowl mix the eggs and oil and milk, pour the mixture on the flour. Season with salt, pepper and mix well.

Fry the diced bacon on a pan without any seasoning to let the grease melt then put them on a paper sheet to absorb the fat.

Add the grated gruyère, the olives and the bacon mixing well.

Butter and flour a plumcake mould, pour the dough in it and put in the oven for 45 min.

Let it cool and demould on a grid till it's cold.

Serve for an aperitif or an appetizer .

CHEESECAKE ALLA VANIGLIA CON FRUTTA FRESCA 12 PORZIONI

CURD CHEESECAKE WITH FRESH FRUIT TOPPING 12 SERVINGS

base -

225 gr biscotti digestive - 225 gr digestive biscuits

110 gr burro - 110 gr butter

crema - cream

700 gr ricotta (io uso la Vallelata) - 700 gr cottage cheese

225 gr zucchero - 225 gr caster sugar

3 uova - 3 eggs

1 cucchiaino di essenza di vaniglia 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

decorazione: 250 gr panna montata e frutta fresca a piacere. Matteo adoro i frutti di bosco

topping: 250 gr whipped cream and fresh fruit. Matteo adores berries

§ Per la base tritare i biscotti e mescolateli al burro fuso. Con il composto coprite il fondo di uno stampo a cerniera di 23 cm di diametro e livellatelo accuratamente.

Sbattete accuratamente il formaggio con le uova, lo zucchero e la vaniglia.

Versate la crema sulla base e mettete in forno a 150°. Far cuocere per 30 min, poi spegnere il forno e lasciare raffreddare. Mettere in frigo per almeno 2 ore, meglio tutta la notte.

Sformate la torta e decoratela con la panna montata e la frutta.

Io ho preparato mezza dose per questo è sottile ma ci tengo alla salute dei miei uomini ;o)

§ For the base crash the biscuits and mix them with the melted butter. Cover the bottom of a 23 cm diameter mould with the mixture and flat it heavenly.

Mix well the cheese, the eggs, sugar and vanilla extract.

Pour the cream on the base and put it in the oven at 150°. Cook for 30 min, then switch off the oven and let it cool . Put it in the fridge for at least 2 hours, better still all the night.

Demould the cake and decorate it with the whipped cream and the fruit.

I prepared half dose, this is why it is thin but I care for my men health ;o)

Come tutte noi sappiamo in Italia è difficilissimo, per usare un eufemismo, trovare miniature carine a prezzi ragionevoli o anche non ragionevoli.

Siamo tutte obbligate al "fai da te", che è MOLTO gratificante ma non sempre possibile, oppure legate ai siti web stranieri.

Ebbene ho trovato un sito Genovese !! incredibile ma vero.

La cosa buffa è che il link me l'ha fornito un sito Olandese ! Roba da pazzi.

§ Comincio a vedere di nuovo... nei giorni scorsi non riuscivo a tenere gli occhi aperti ma oggi va MOLTO meglio.

Qualche giorno fa Anneke ha postato un cestino fatto con i bastoncini del caffè.

L'estate scorsa in Scozia ne ho fatto scorta così ho provato a fare un portaposate.

Some days ago Anneke posted a small basket made with coffee stirrers.

Last summer in Scotland I took a small bunch of them and I tried to do a cutlery holder.

§ Il legno che avevo in casa era un po' spessino e le finiture lasciano un tantino a desiderare ma il cassettino interno mi piace molto.

§ The wood I had at home was a tad thick and finishing isn't really good but I like how the inner drawer has turned out.
§ Soprattutto ho finalmente trovato un posto per i meravigliosi accessori da cucito che Marsha mi regalò un anno fa e che languivano in un cassetto da allora.

§ Moreover I finally found a place for the lovely sewing accessories that Marsha presented to me last year and that were closed in a drawer since then.

The great problem lays on the "sleep and rest" cure: I'm not very good at resting.

My doctor told me to stay at home and forget about work .... I feel a bit guilty....

But I have given up stitching and this gives you the idea of how much a wreck I feel ;o))
