Buon Natale in ritardo - Belated Merry Christmas

§ Cari amici
lo so , sono in ritardo ma fatevi fare tanti auguri lo stesso.
Se non valgono più per Natale varranno per questi giorni di interregno che ci separano dal Nuovo Anno.
Spero che Natale sia stato per tutti voi un momento piacevole ricco di affetti e condivisione.
Per me lo è stato nonostante la maratona di pranzi,visite e riunioni famigliari nel mezzo del lavoro che non si ferma e che mi hanno lasciato stremata.

Perciò vi faccio tanti tanti auguri per .... per tutto ciò che volete, desiderate ed amate
Auguri !!!! 

§ Dear friends
I know that I am late but let me wish you all the same.
If they are no longer worth for Christmas they will be valid for these days of interregnum that separate us from New Year.
I hope that Christmas was a pleasant moment for all of you, full of affection and sharing.
For me it was despite the marathon of lunches, visits and family gathering in the middle of the work that doesn't stop and that left me exhausted.

So I wish you many good wishes for ... for anything you want, hope and love

Una sorpresa nel bosco - A surprise into the woods

§ Tanti auguri di Buon Anno a tutti !!

§ Prima gita dell'anno , San Fruttuoso di Camogli sul promontorio del monte di Portofino
§ First trek of the year to San Fruttuoso di Camogli on the promontory of the Mount Portofino

§  La giornata non era delle migliori ma l'aria era tersa ed il mare blu zaffiro
 Dalla cima del monte si scende per circa 200 metri per arrivare al piccolo porto e si può arrivare solo camminando od in barca ma ne vale la pena e lungo la strada si possono ammirare scorci bellissimi

§ The weather was not at its best but the air was clear and the sea saphire blue
From the top of the hill you must get down some 200mts to reach the tiny hamlet where you can go only by trekking or by boat. It is worth the effortand along the path you can admire wonderful seascapes

§ E' una gita che ho fatto infinite volte e sempre con enorme piacere perchè la natura è di una bellezza mozzafiato
§ It is an excursion which I have done countless times and always with the greatest pleasure because the beauty of nature there is breathtaking

§  Questa volta però la sorpresa l'abbiamo avuta nel bosco sul monte .... piccoli presepi sono stati nascosti tra le radici dei castagni e dentro ad anfratti e mini grotte, riparati dalla pioggia e dal vento

§ This time we got a surprise in the woods and chestnut groves on the hill ... small nativities had been hidden among the trees roots and inside small clefts and tiny grottoes , sheltered from wind and rain

§  Cercarli è stato come partecipare ad una caccia al tesoro

§  Looking for them it's been like taking part of a treasure hunt

 Ci sono angeli   -  There are angels

 Ci sono i Re Magi  -  There are the Wise Men

§  Un cavallino solitario che guarda stupito il "ditone" del mio compagno
§ A lonely little horse which looks astonished at my partner's "big finger"

§  Nascosti sotto le radici ma una pallina luccicante ne segnalava la presenza
§ They were hidden below the roots but a shiny small ball heralded its presence

§  Ahimè, di questo sono rimasti solo i visitatori celesti ...
§ Alas, only the celestials visitors remained here ...

§  Qui i viandanti devono arrampicarsi per raggiungere il Bambino
§ Here the travellers must climb up to meet the Child

§  Guardate come sono piccine le statuine, vere miniature
§ Look how small are the figurines, truly miniatures

E come si sposano bene al paesaggio

And how the melt into the landscape

 § Questo è il mio preferito, adoro la stella cometa fatta con una pigna e le foglie di quercia.
Nulla è stato dimenticato, c'è perfino un minuscolo pungitopo con le sue bacche rosse
§ This is my favourite, I love the guiding star made with a pine cone and oak leaves.
Nothing has been forgotten , there is even a diminutive butcher's broom with its red berries

E con questa piacevole, per me, sorpresa vi auguro un Felice Anno Nuovo, che sia ricco anche per voi di novità e meravigliose scoperte

And with this lovely, to me, finding I wish you all a Happy New Year, might it be rich of novelties and wonderful surprises

Il Presepe - The Crèche

Buon Natale 

Buon Natale a tutti voi vicini e lontani, vi auguro che possiate trascorrere queste feste, amate od odiate che siano, come e con chi volete.

Il mio "dono" per voi è un'altra immagine della mia amatissima Genova.
Questo è il Presepe di Via Orefici 47, in pieno centro storico.
E' un sovraporta ed è stato scolpito nella metà del 400 e ancora possiamo ammirarne la squisita fattura.

Tutti i bambini Genovesi hanno trascorso minuti ad ammirarlo con il naso all'insù mentre gli adulti cercavano di trascinarli via.
Ancora adesso io non posso non fermarmi ad ammirarlo ogni qualvolta passo per quella strada.

Il bassorilievo  è un trionfo di dettagli amorevolmente scolpiti nel marmo.
Nell'angolo in alto a destra potete vedere un gregge di pecorelle con il pastore assopito.
Il bue e l'asino mangiano pacifici mentre uno dei Re Magi si prostra di fronte al Bambino mentre i membri del suo seguito giungono le mani in preghiera.
Un Angelo canta le lodi del Signore portando la Buona Novella.
Gli scudieri trattengono i cavalli ma uno è troppo assetato e si attarda a bere nel fiume.
Sullo sfondo cavalieri giungono al galoppo attratti dalla grande notizia: un Re è nato.
Solo un contadino, lassù in alto, sullo sfondo, continua pacifico il suo lavoro e pota gli alberi.

Uno spaccato di vita con i costumi, le bardature e le architetture di quasi 600 anni fa si mostra ai nostri occhi increduli per tanta bellezza.

Merry Christmas to you all, near and far , I hope you can spend these holidays , loved or hated as  they can be, how and with whom you want .

My "gift" for you is another picture of my beloved Genoa.
This is the Nativity of the via degli Orefici 47 aka Goldsmiths Street, in the historic center .
It's a lintel and was carved in the mid- 400 and we can still admire the exquisite workmanship .

All Genoese children have spent  minutes  admiring it with their noses up while the adults were trying to drag them away .
Even now I cannot avoid stopping to admire it every time I step along that road .

The bas-relief is a triumph of details lovingly carved in marble.
In the upper right you can see a flock of sheep with the shepherd asleep .
The ox and the donkey eat peaceful and one of the Three Wise Men prostrates himself in front of the child while the members of his entourage join their hands in prayer.
The Angel sings praise to the Lord and brings good tidings to the world.
The squires hold the horses but one is too thirsty and lingers to drink by the river.
In the background horsemen come galloping attracted by the big news : a King is born.
Only a farmer up there , in the background , continues his peaceful work and prune the trees.

A glimpse of life with the costumes, the trappings and the architecture of almost 600 years ago shows before our  eyes incredulous to so much beauty .

Regali di Natale - Christmas Presents

 § Queste sono le mini Natalizie ricevute in dono: adorabili non è vero?
Guardate l'ombra che si staglia sulla parete di fondo,la trovo stupenda.

§ These are the minis which I received for Christmas: adorable, aren't they?
Look at the shadow that they cast on the wall,I think it is wonderful

 § Il centro tavola con l'orso e le candele VERE ed i biscotti arrivano da Basilea e sono il dono della mia cara amica Fiore Svizzero ;o), compagna di liceo e complice quandosi parla di miniature :o)

§ The table decoration with the bear and the TRUE candles come from Basel and they are the gift of my dearest friend Swiss Flower ;o),high school fellow student and "accomplice" when we talk of minis :o)

§  I biscotti mi fanno morire perchè sono identici a quelli veri che lei mi regala ogni anno,fiocco rosso compreso!
§ The biscuits are to die for  because they are identical to the real ones she always presents me, red bow included!

§ E queste incredibile,sottilissime,fragilissime silhouettes sono un0 dei tanti doni di Birgit.
Sono fantastiche e ho davvero paura a toccarle. Le ho già riposte in una scatola in attesa che la Casa Rossa sia pronta ad accoglierle.

§ And these incredible, thiiiiiin, most fragile silhouettes are one of the many Birgit's gifts.
They are fabulous and I am truly afraid of touching them.  They are already set in a box waiting for the Casa Rossa to be ready to host them.

§ Finalmente è arrivato anche il mio pacchetto per lo swap di Natale ,giusto in tempo per la Befana :o))

La mia partner era Brae e , siccome ammiro il suo lavoro da tempo, ero proprio curiosa di vedere i miei regalini.

Avevo ragione ??!!  sono deliziosi.

Veloce, veloce - Quick, quick

Un post velocissimo.....

Ho una vita un tantino piena ultimamente ma papà ed io siamo riusciti a mettere su la tappezzeria !!!

E' bella, bellissima, lucente come seta ed i fiori e gli usignoli sembrano dipinti a tempera.

E' così ricca che mi fa sentire una principessa , mi fa sentire Turandot.

Oddio, spero meno crudele di lei ;o)

E dal momento che io vivo in mezzo ai palazzi mi regala tutte le mattine e le sere l'illusione della Natura.

A very quick post.....
My life is so full lately but Dad and I managed to put up the wallpaper !!!
It's beautiful, more than beautiful, it shines like silk and the flowers and the nightingales look as if they were painted.
It is so rich that it makes me feel like a princess, it makes me feel like Turandot.
OMG, hopefully less cruel than her ;o)
And since I live in the middle of buildings it presents me very morning and evening with illusion of Nature.
