§  La giornata non era delle migliori ma l'aria era tersa ed il mare blu zaffiro
 Dalla cima del monte si scende per circa 200 metri per arrivare al piccolo porto e si può arrivare solo camminando od in barca ma ne vale la pena e lungo la strada si possono ammirare scorci bellissimi

§ The weather was not at its best but the air was clear and the sea saphire blue
From the top of the hill you must get down some 200mts to reach the tiny hamlet where you can go only by trekking or by boat. It is worth the effortand along the path you can admire wonderful seascapes

§ E' una gita che ho fatto infinite volte e sempre con enorme piacere perchè la natura è di una bellezza mozzafiato
§ It is an excursion which I have done countless times and always with the greatest pleasure because the beauty of nature there is breathtaking

§  Questa volta però la sorpresa l'abbiamo avuta nel bosco sul monte .... piccoli presepi sono stati nascosti tra le radici dei castagni e dentro ad anfratti e mini grotte, riparati dalla pioggia e dal vento

§ This time we got a surprise in the woods and chestnut groves on the hill ... small nativities had been hidden among the trees roots and inside small clefts and tiny grottoes , sheltered from wind and rain

§  Cercarli è stato come partecipare ad una caccia al tesoro

§  Looking for them it's been like taking part of a treasure hunt

 Ci sono angeli   -  There are angels

 Ci sono i Re Magi  -  There are the Wise Men

§  Un cavallino solitario che guarda stupito il "ditone" del mio compagno
§ A lonely little horse which looks astonished at my partner's "big finger"

§  Nascosti sotto le radici ma una pallina luccicante ne segnalava la presenza
§ They were hidden below the roots but a shiny small ball heralded its presence

§  Ahimè, di questo sono rimasti solo i visitatori celesti ...
§ Alas, only the celestials visitors remained here ...

§  Qui i viandanti devono arrampicarsi per raggiungere il Bambino

Nulla è stato dimenticato, c'è perfino un minuscolo pungitopo con le sue bacche rosse
§ This is my favourite, I love the guiding star made with a pine cone and oak leaves.
Nothing has been forgotten , there is even a diminutive butcher's broom with its red berries

Oggi abbiamo cominciato il 2015 con una bella passeggiata da Sori a Sant'Apollinare

Il tempo era SPLENDIDO !!

 We begun 2015 with a lovely trek from Sori to Sant'Apollinare
The weather was TERRIFIC !!

 Il mare era blu cobalto, il verde smeraldino, l'aria era piena dei cinguetti dei passerotti e dei profumi della campagna

The sea was cobalt blue, the gree was emerald, the air was filled with the tweet of sparrows and of the scents of the countryside

 Stradine acciottolate conducono in mezzo agli uliveti

Cobbled paths lead in the middle of olive groves

 E ci siamo arrampicati .....

And we climbed ......

 Ma alla fine siamo ritornati al mare per un picnic :o)

But at last we went back to the seashore for a picnic :o)

Non potevo sognare un inizio migliore

I couldn't dream of a better starting of the year

§ Un'altra giornata al sole trascorsa girovagando in bicicletta.

§ Partiti da Genova siamo arrivati in Val Fontanabuona dove si svolge una esposizione di prodotti locali.

L'Expò non era granchè ma il viaggio è il vero protagonista dei nostri giretti.

§ Leaving from Genoa we arrived in Val Fontanabuona ( Valley of Good Fountain) where an exhibition of local products was held.

The Expò was nothing particularly interesting but the trip is the real reason of our excursions.

§  Perchè si fanno incontri inaspettati come le finestre finte di questa casetta con le loro tendine di pizzo e la sua misteriosa padrona dipinta.

§ Because you make unexpected encounters like these fake windows with their lace curtains and the misterious painted lady.

§ Oppure una porta dipinta in stile Maria Antonietta che porta .... chissà.... un giardino segreto? un cortile?

Nessuno lo saprà mai: è sbarrata da tronchi di castagno. che sorta di incantesimo è questo?

§ Or a painted door in Marie Antoinette style which leads ..... who knows.... a secret garden? a courtyard?
No one will ever know: it is barred by the chestnuts logs. What sort of wizardy is taking place here?

§ E alla fine il tocco gentile di un'artista dal pollice verde

Ferragosto

§ Non sono ancora in ferie, per questo devo ancora aspettare fino a fine mese, però mi godo le belle giornate che finalmente sono arrivate

§ I am not yet on holiday, I still have to wait till the end of the month, meanwhile I enjoy the gorgeous days that at last have arrived

§  Questo è uno scorcio di Camogli, una delle più belle cittadine della nostra Riviera.
§ This is a sight of Camogli, one of the most beautifull towns in our Riviera.

§ E questa sono io ( cough cough....) in mise vacanziera e che vi ricordo il giveaway del 600 post !

24 Giugno, San Giovanni Battista - 24th June, Saint John the Baptist

§ San Giovanni Battista è il Santo Patrono di Genova e anche di Ovada una cittadina piemontese cui siamo legati da antiche alleanze e amicizia.
§ Saint John the Baptist is the Patron Saint of Genoa and Ovada a piemontese town to which we are bound by ancient alliance and friendship

§  Entrambe le città celebrano il Santo con feste e processioni religiose ma soprattutto folcloristiche.
§ Both the cities honour the Saint with celebrations and religious , but mainly folkloristic, processions.

§  Ieri sera ho preso parte alle celebrazioni Genovesi andando a vedere il falò di mezzanotte davanti a Palazzo Ducale
§ Yesterday night I took part of celebrations going to watch at the midnight bonfire in front of Palazzo Ducale

§ Mentre oggi pomeriggio siamo andati ad Ovada per assistere alla processione della Confraternita della Santa Trinità e Giovanni Battista

§ While this afternoon we went to Ovada to watch at the procession by the Confraternity of Holy Trinity and Saint John the Baptist

§  Il crocifisso della prima foto è tipico della Liguria e del Basso Piemonte, il Cristo Nero e le decorazioni in argento e argento dorato sono assolutamente caratteristiche.
E' pesantissimo e viene portato a turno dagli uomini più forti della Confraternita.
§ The crucifix in the first pic is tipical of Liguria and Lower Piemonte, the Black Christ and the decorations in silver and gilded silver are absolutely characteristic.
It is very heavy and it is lifted in turn by the strongest men of the Confraternity.

§ Essere un Cristezante, ossia Portatore di Cristo in Genovese, è un grandissimo onore e una grande responsabilità dato il grande valore economico e simbolico delle croci.
§ To be a Cristezante aka Christ bearer in Genoese, is a main honour and a great responsibility given the economical and symbolic value of the crosses.

Qualcuno di voi ricorderà l'alluvione di Novembre nelle 5 Terre e a Genova. Un disastro !
In quell'occasione fu lanciata una raccolta di ricette che dovevano costituire un libro a favore della Casa Famiglia di Borghetto Vara.
C'è voluto un po' di tempo ma finalmente il libro è pronto .
Si potrà acquistare solo tramite il sito dell'Editore e TUTTI i proventi andranno ai Bambini di Borghetto.
Andate sul blog di Patrizia che ha promosso questa bella iniziativa e comprate un librino : sono ricette  di mamme , nonne e zie , food-bloggers oppure no , ma tutte collaudate, divertenti e adatte alla famiglia.
Io ho già prenotato le mie 6 copie , regali di Natale in ritardo , voi andate a dare un'occhiata.

§ Incredibile Liguria ed incredibile Novembre !

Dopo i disastri delle scorse settimane sembra assurdo godere di una giornata così.

Questa meravigliosa tavola e questo splendido panorama  li ho fotografati oggi a casa di cari amici che abitano sopra Camogli.

Mi auguro che anche la vostra giornata sia stata così serena.

After last weeks disasters being able to enjoy a day like this seems absurd.
I took a picture of this wonderful table and amazing landscape today from the garden of dear friends who live on the hill over Camogli.
