Lucky bamboo

§  Il Bambù della fortuna è una pianta diventata di moda negli ultimi anni, si trova ovunque ed è facile da coltivare.

In realtà non è un bambù bensì una pianta della famiglia delle Agavaceae ma non voglio farvi una lezione di Botanica .... anche perché non ne sarei capace ;o)

§ The Lucky Bamboo is a plant which became fashionable in the last years, you can find it anywhere and it's easy to grow.

Truly it is not a bamboo but it's a plant of the Agavaceae family but I am not here for a botanical lesson .... mainly because I couldn't do it ;o)

 

§ Il mio bambù è fortunato perché se ha trovato un vaso accogliente e bellissimo è grazie ad un'amica speciale.
Questa adorabile ciotola è un dono di Norma ed è opera di Margaret Crosswell  una miniaturista Australiana che purtroppo non vende online ma di cui posseggo alcuni pezzi grazie alla generosità di un'altra amica, Linda.

§ My bamboo is a lucky one because if it found a comfy and beautiful vase it is thanks to a special friend.
This adorable bowl is a gift from Norma and it's work of Margaret Crosswell an Australian miniaturist who, alas, doesn't sell online but I am the, again, lucky owner of a few pieces thanks to the generosity of another friend, Linda.

§ Il mese scorso sono stata a Parigi per il SIMP e sono stata così fortunata da incontrare Norma Bennet dall'Australia.
Siamo state in contatto tramite i nostri blog per 10 anni, forse una delle prime persone che ho conosciuto,nella blog sfera, ed è stato meraviglioso incontrarci di persona! Purtroppo nessuna delle due ha pensato a fare una foto !
Ci siamo incontrate all 8,30 al suo hotel, siamo andate a fare la coda insieme al SIMP e dopo la fiera ci siamo di nuovo incontrate per cena in un bistrot.
Cose che succedono solo a Blogland !!!

§ Last month I was in Paris for SIMP and I have been so lucky to meet Norma Bennet from Australia.
We have been in touch through our blogs for the last 10 years, one of the first people I met in blogland, and it was wonderful to meet in real life !
Alas none of us thought of taking a pic of the two of us !
We met at 8,30 am at her hotel and went to SIMP to queue together and after the fair we met again for dinner in a bistrot.
Something which happens only in Blogland !!!

San Valentino .... un giorno dopo - Valentine's Day .... one day later

§ Come sempre arrivo in ritardo alle feste.
 Non lo faccio apposta, capita così ...

§ As usual I arrive late at holidays.
I don't make it on purpose, it just happens ...

§  San Valentino poi non mi appartiene molto. Io sono una romanticona ma i festeggiamenti obbligati non mi piacciono proprio e allora fingo che non esistano proprio e faccio la burbera.
Ma, in realtà, adoro i cuoricini , il rosa e le cose carine ( e qui arrossisco ....)

§ Valentine's Day doesn't appeal much to me. I am a romantic soul but mandatory festivities aren't my piece of cake and then I pretend that they simply do not exist and I play the grouchy.
But, actually, I do love hearts, pink and all things nice ( I am blushing ...)

 § Per questo vi mostro in ritardo il mio angolo "sanvalentinoso", una poltroncina comodosa con un cuscinetto mieloso ;o)

§ This is why I show you a bit late my Valentinesque corner, a comfy chair with a corny pillow ;o)

§ Il cuscinetto con le tortorelle innamorate l'ho fatto io ma la meravigliosa coperta è un prezioso dono di Frederica. Questa copertina ha fatto un lungo viaggio dalla Nuova Zelanda nella valigia di Mercedes che me la consegnò a casa di Sylvia nell'autunno 2011. Ne ha fatta di strada !!!

§ The pillow with the enamoured turtle doves was made by me while the wonderful blanket is a precious gift by Frederica. This blanket made a long trip from New Zealand inside Mercedes' suitcase who gave it to me at Sylvia's house in Autumn 2011. It travelled a long way !!!

§ La sedia è un dono di Lara in seguito ad un giveaway di tanti anni fa. Io ho rivestito il cuscino ed i braccioli ma guardate lo schienale, è bellissimo !!!

§ The chair is a gift  from Lara during a giveaway of many years ago. I reupholstered the cushion and the armrests but look at the back, it is beautiful !!!

Ad ogni modo vi auguro di aver trascorso un felice San Valentino con i vostri amori, marito, figli o pelosetti che siano ;o)

Any way I hope that you had a lovely Valentine's Day with your beloved, no matter if husband, wife, kids or furry friends ;o)

§ The dishes were painted by Emma of Paris Miniatures and they came home with me from Paris but the shelf is new  :o)

FINALMENTE !!!! - AT LAST !!!!

 Finalmente le ferie !      At last holidays !!!!

Domani mattina partiremo con un volo Air Fance da Genova e raggiungeremo Parigi

Tomorrow we shall fly from Genoa with an Air France plane and we'll reach Paris

Dovremo aspettare tre ore e mezza all'aereoporto Charles de Gaulle ... poco male ;o)

We'll have to wait three hours and a half at Charles de Gaulle airport ... not too bad ;o)

 Da lì un volo diretto, quasi 13 ore - arghhhh,  ci porterà a Singapore    (^_^)

A direct flight , nearly 13 hours - arghhhh, will take us to Singapore  (^_^)

Soprattutto ci porterà da cari amici in una città che ho imparato ad amare.
Per la prima volta mio figlio verrà con me e questo rende tutto più prezioso

Most important it will take us to dear friends in a city which I learned to love.
For the first time my son will come with me and this makes everything more special

Non proprio una miniatura ... - Not quite a miniature ....

§ Per prima cosa permettetemi di presentarvi le Rolla Sisters

Il nome non l'ho inventato io, non sono così egocentrica, ma è nato spontaneamente.

Siamo 6 amiche, con qualche aggiunta occasionale ;o), ci conosciamo da 22 .... 35+ anni (gulp !!!!) e cerchiamo di organizzare almeno un incontro al mese :o)

Da questi incontri è nata l'abitudine di scambiarci piccoli doni, belinate si dice a Genova, cose magari di poco valore ma pensate ad hoc per noi.

Per l'ultima cena insieme, poche ore fa, ho pensato a dei segnalibri .... ritratti in miniatura .... belinate ;o) .... insomma una sciocchezza ma che ci facesse sorridere !

§ First of all let me introduce the Rolla Sisters

The name wasn't invented by me, I am not as self-centered, but it is born spontaneously.

We are 6 friends, with some occasional addition ;o), we've been knowing each other for the last 22 .... 35+ years (gulp !!!!) and we try to organize at least one meeting per month :o)

From these meetings was born the custom of exchanging small gifts, belinate aka trifles are called  in  Genoese, may be things of little value but thought specifically for us.

For our last meal together, a few hours ago, I thought of bookmark .... miniature portraits ... belinate ;o) .... 

So silly but we did smile!

§ L'idea non è mia originale, l'ho tratta da un inserto di Casa Facile dove si insegnava a fare un vestitino di carta con la tecnica origami.
Il mese scorso avevo chiesto ad ognuna di loro di mandarmi una foto in primo piano suscitando grande curiosità... chissà cosa si aspettavano  ;o)

La sorellina Sabrina ( grazie gioia ) ha realizzato le faccette e in un pomeriggio trascorso insieme ((^_^)) abbiamo montato e decorato le Rolla Dolls, una per ognuna di noi

§ The idea is not my original, it was in an insert from Casa Facile where it was taught  how to fold a paper dress with origami technique.
Last month I asked each one to send me a close up picture thus arousing lot of curiosity ... who knows what they were waiting for  ;o)

Sister Sabrina (thanks love) made up the little faces and during an afternoon spent together ((^ _ ^)) we have assembled and decorated the Rolla Dolls, one for each of us

§ Il retro è foderato di stoffa adesiva e il becco d'oca è un colpo di genio di Sab perchè permette di attaccare la bambolina ovunque.

Sono piaciute ???
Direi di sì  ;o)))

§ The back is lined with adhesive fabric and the hair clip is a stroke of genius by Sab because it allows to hang the doll wherever you want.

Were they appreciated ???

Milano

§ Ieri sono stata a Milano.
La ragione era l'incontro con una cara amica che vive ad Edimburgo.
Ci siamo conosciute tramite il blog, ci siamo incontrate per la prima volta nel 2007 a casa sua e ora, ogni volta che riesce a fare una scappata in Italia, ne approfittiamo per abbracciarci.
Alla faccia di chi dice che la blogsfera è un mondo solo virtuale ;o)

§ Yesterday I was in Milan.
The reason was the meeting with a dear friend who lives in Edinburgh.
We got acquainted with each other through our blogs, we met for the first time in 2007 at her home and now, every time she manages to make a trip to Italy, we take advantage to embrace.
In the face of those who say that the blogosphere is only a virtual world  ;o)

§ Ieri Milano era bellissima !!

Soleggiata, calda ed allegra come mai l'avevo vista e piena di eventi come solo una grande città può offrire soprattutto adesso in occasione dell'Expo 2015

Questa che vedete è Piazza dei Mercanti dove ho assistito ad un meraviglioso concerto di musica jazz

§ Yesterday Milan was beautiful !!

Sunny, warm and cheerful as I had never seen it and full of events as only a big city can offer especially now at the Expo 2015

§ Le vetrine ammiccano alla "milanesità" , questa antica pasticceria gioca con i tram tradizionali e solletica gli occhi e stuzzica la gola dei passanti con il suo dolcissimo carico


§ The windows wink at "Milanhood", this old bakery plays with the traditional tram and tickles the eyes and teases the throat  of passers-by with its sweet load

§ Di fronte al Duomo, in uno splendido, elegantissimo negozio/caffè/ristorante "svetta" questo meraviglioso ulivo secolare.
Mi sono arrampicata per tre rampe di scale per verificare quello che diceva l'insegna, ossia che è una scultura in ottone.
Bellissima, letteralmente mozzafiato

§ Opposite the Duomo, in a beautiful, elegant shop / cafe / restaurant "stands out" this wonderful ancient olive tree.
I climbed three flights of stairs to check what the sign said, that that is a sculpture in brass.
Beautiful, literally breathtaking

§ Ma la sorpresa maggiore ?
Trovare un campo di papaveri e fiordalisi in centro città, dietro alla Chiesa di Sant'Eustorgio.
Una visione assolutamente commovente, come essere tuffati d'incanto in un quadro di Monet o dentro l'illustrazione di un libro per bambini.

§ But the biggest surprise?
Find a field of poppies and cornflowers in the city center, behind the church of Sant'Eustorgio.
An absolutely moving vision, as if by magic you were dipped in a painting by Monet or inside the illustration of a children's book.

§ Io vi invito sempre a venire a Genova ma, per una volta, fate una scappata anche a Milano :o))

§ I always invite you to  come to Genoa but, for once, take a flight to Milan: o))

Sylvia è una incredibile, dotatissima miniaturista, una donna meravigliosa e forte, sorridente, divertente con splendidi occhi che ti guardano un po' sornioni e un po' divertiti.
Io la ammiro incondizionatamente per il suo carattere e per la sua maestria

§ May be you remember that in October Sylvia, the Dutch Legend, came to my house.
Sylvia is an incredible, super gifted miniaturist, a wonderful and strong woman, smiling, witty, with gorgeous eyes which look at you  mischievously and amused.
I unconditionally admire her for her character and her mastery

§ La room box ha tutte le caratteristiche del suo stile che è personalissimo: un po' sporco, trascurato, abbandonato....

§ The room box has all the features of her style which is absolutely personal: a bit dirty, neglected, deserted....

§ Oggi nevicava ma nevicava ma nevicava come non avevo mai visto a Genova!

Giornata ideale per stare in casa e giocare un po' :o)

Ma ieri è stato il vero giorno del gioco: la gita annuale a Miniaturitalia con le amiche.

Ormai vado alle fiere principalmente per incontrare le amiche e ciacolare :o))

Ideal day to stay at home and play a bit :o) 

But the real play day was yesterday: the annual trip to Miniaturitalia with the friends.

At the moment I mostly go to fairs to meet friends and chit chat :o))
