Trip to memory lane

§ Oggi sono andata a trovare la mia cara amica Sabrina e casualmente si è parlato della room box che avevo fatto per Simona, sua sorella gemella.

§ Today I went on visit at my dearest friend Sabrina's home and casually we talked of the room box which I made for her twin sister Simona.

§ È un progetto originale basato sulle richieste di Simona dove ho fatto davvero tutto e assomiglia moltissimo alla sua stanza preferita

La differenza è data dalle finestre che nella realtà non esistono mentre qui si affacciano sul piccolo e bellissimo golfo di Paraggi

§ It is an original project based on Simona's wishes and I made everything and it resembles a lot her favourite room

The difference is given by the windows which don't exist in reality while here they overlook the small and beautiful gulf of Paraggi

§ Sul soppalco c'è un angolino comodo per rilassarsi e leggere

§ On the mezzanine there is a comfy corner to relax and read

§ Al piano inferiore tutto il necessario per lavorare e ricevere le amiche

§ At the lower floor there is everything you need to work and welcome friends

§ Non manca nulla di ciò che può rendere la vita piacevole ....

§ There is all you need to make life pleasant ....

§ Mentre si legge una bella tazza di té è quello che ci vuole !

§ While you read a nice cup of tea it is what you need ! 

§ Il tavolo riprende il decoro del pavimento "vero" di Simona; le scritte " Conosci te stesso" ed "Afferra il giorno" erano i suoi motti, la sua filosofia di vita.

§ The table shows a decor from her "real life" floor; the captions " Conosci te stesso" aka "Know yourselves" and "Afferra il giorno" aka "Grab the day" were her mottoes, her philosophy of life.

§ Chi segue questo blog da tempo conosce queste foto, nessuna novità, ma un viaggio sul sentiero dei ricordi ogni tanto fa bene all'anima.

Sylvia è una incredibile, dotatissima miniaturista, una donna meravigliosa e forte, sorridente, divertente con splendidi occhi che ti guardano un po' sornioni e un po' divertiti.
Io la ammiro incondizionatamente per il suo carattere e per la sua maestria

§ May be you remember that in October Sylvia, the Dutch Legend, came to my house.
Sylvia is an incredible, super gifted miniaturist, a wonderful and strong woman, smiling, witty, with gorgeous eyes which look at you  mischievously and amused.
I unconditionally admire her for her character and her mastery

La stanza di Marta in scatola - Marta's room in a box

§§ Marta sta per sposarsi.

§ Marta is getting married.

§ Marta è una mia collega ed è una delle persone più carine, intelligenti e capaci che io abbia mai avuto il piacere di conoscere. Potrebbe essere mia figlia e spesso penso che mi considerei fortunata ad avere, un domani, una nuora come lei.

§ Marta is a colleague of mine and she is one one the prettiest, cleverest and most capable person whom I ever had the pleasure to meet.

She might be my daughter and I often think tha I'd be lucky to have, some day, a daughter in law like her.

§  Quando annunciò il suo matrimonio circa 1 anno fa pensai di farle una room box per ricordare l'evento.

Ovviamente avendo tanto tempo davanti ... mi sono ridotta all'ultimo momento ! ossia venerdì notte fino alle 2 ed oltre.

§ When she announced her wedding last year I thought of doing a roombox as a souvenir.

Obviously having so much time ahead .... I reduced myself to the very last minute ! aka last Friday night till 2 am and plus.

 § Avevo pronta solo la poltroncina e la scatola che nel frattempo s era macchiata perciò ho rifatto il coperchio. 

Il vestito è stato un incubo! ho sempre avuto il massimo rispetto per che fa bambole ma ora si è centuplicato !!

Ho rifatto il corpetto tre volte e, vi assicuro, spero che il vestito vero le stia MOLTO meglio.

§ I only had the chair ready and the box which in the meanwhile had got dirty hence I redid the cover.

The dress has been a nightmare ! I always had the greatest respect for whom make dolls but now is 100 times more !!

The corset has been done thrice and , trust me, I hope that the real one will fit her MUCH better than this one.

 § Ho aggiunto un pizzico di blu per buona fortuna ;o)

§ I added a pinch of blue for good luck ;o)

§ Ho preparato un bouquet di roselline di carta bianca e le bomboniere con dei fiorellini di fimo rosa.

§ I made a posy of white  paper roses and party favours with pink fimo flowers

 § La seggiolina è rivestita di lino ricamato con le loro iniziali, Marta e Antonio

§ The chair is covered with lined with their initials, Marta and Antonio, stitched on it

 § Poi ho fatto una torta pazza stile Tè con il Cappellaio Matto coperta di cuoricini e un vassoietto di macarons per ingannare l'attesa. La bottiglia di Berlucchi, l'unica cosa che ho comprato insieme al manichino, aspetta di essere stappata.

§ Then I made a wonky cake, like the ones of the Mad Hatter,  covered with little hearts and a dish of macarons to help during the waiting. The Berlucchi bottle, the only bought thing together with the mannequin, is waiting to be opened.

§ E poi ovviamente regali da aprire 

§ And the of course presents to be opened.

§ Mancano  ancora le partecipazioni, il menù e il libretto da Messa ma Marta me li porterà da ridurre dopo la cerimonia.

§ It's still missing the wedding stationery such as the Mass booklet and the menu but Marta will give them to me to reduce after the wedding.

§ Ed ora basta fare mini per un po'.

Vi devo ancora mostrare ciò che ho acquistato a Parigi ed alcuni bellissimi regali che ho ricevuto.

I still have to show to you what I bought in Paris and some beautiful presents which I received.

La Sarta - The Seamstress - ep. 3

 § Ed ecco l'ultimo tocco, quello che tutti chiamavano a gran voce: il metro a nastro senza il quale nessuna sarta può lavorare.
Credetemi o no, la cosa più difficile è stata trovare un foglio di carta del giusto tono di giallo.
Per fortuna la mia amica/angelo Sabrina mi ha risolto il problema.
Per essere una cosina così piccina mi piace davvero, soprattutto mi piace il puntale metallico :o)

§ And here is the last touch, which all of you were calling with loud voices: the tape metre without which no seamstress can work.
Believe me or not, the most difficult thing has been finding a sheet of paper with the right yellow hue.
Luckily my friend/angel Sabrina has solved the problem.
Although it is such a tiny thingy I like it really very much, I mostly love the metal tip :o)

§ Domani a consegnerò alla mia amica che poi la regalerà alla zia.

§ Tomorrow I shall give to it my friend who will present it to her aunt.
We decided to take everything out and make lot of tiny parcels. Auntie will open them one by one and she will be free to play and set them :o))

§ Un cesto per le riviste e gli scampoli di stoffa

§ Una graziosa borsina di carta personalizzata ;o)) con una camicetta pronta da consegnare.

Non guardatela troppo da vicina, è un "ravatto".

La camicetta - The blouse
§ La macchina da cucire ora è corredata di puntaspilli ( spilli per farfalle) e gessetto da sarta, intagliato nel sapone. Ahimè, il vero gesso da sarta si sbriciolava tagliandolo.

§ The sewing machine now has its own pincushion (butterflies pins) and the seamstress chalk carved out of soap. Alas, real chalk crumbles away while you try cutting it.

§ Però sembra proprio vero !! Sono soddisfatta.

§ But it looks quite real !! I'm very happy of it.

§ A chi mi ha chiesto se non mi dispiaceva dare via la macchina da cucire posso dire .... no.

Quando regalo una cosa mi fa piacere che sia il meglio che posso offrire, qualcosa che io stessa gradirei ricevere e questo è ancora più vero se il ricevente è un'amica.

Per cui.... no, non mi dispiace per niente (^_^)

§ To whom asked me if I were not sorry to give away the sewing machine I might answer .... no.

When I give something as a gift my pleasure is that it could be the best that I can give, something which I'd like to receive myself and this is even truer if the recipient is friend.

Therefore .... no, I'm not sorry at all (^_^)

La Sarta - The Seamstress

Un mesetto fa una cara amica mi ha chiesto una piccola room box da regalare ad una zia a cui è molto affezionata e che faceva la sarta.

Vi mostro fin dove sono arrivata (molto poco ma davvero ho poco tempo ultimamente) e intanto anche Fiore Svizzero potrà vedere i progressi e chiamarmi per dirmi cosa vorrebbe aggiungere ;o))

Nearly one month ago a dear friend asked me a small room box to be presented to an aunt whom she loves much and who used to be a seamstress.

I'll show you what I have done ( very little but I really have little time lately) and Fiore Svizzero would be able to look at the progress and call me to tell what she'd like more.

La gonna blu è l'uniforme classica per le signore Genovesi di mezz'età....giuro di non averne neppure una nel mio guardaroba !

The blu skirt is the classical uniform for middle aged Genoa ladies.... I promise I do not have one in my wardrobe !

Le riviste Burda sono un must da decenni; queste sono del 1966, 1975 e 1982.

Le uniche scaricabili, tutte le altre sono coperte da copyright :o(

La macchina da cucire ha il pedale mobile e le ruote girevoli !!

Un colpo di fortuna trovato in un negozio di cineserie, in realtà è un....accendino !! peccato averne solo una.

The sewing machine had a moving foot pedal and revolving wheels !!

It has been a lucky find in a chinese shop, actually it is a..... lightner !! it's a pity I have only one.

Sugli scaffali ci sono scatole, riviste di moda, nastri e rocchetti ....

On the shelves there are boxes, fashion mags, ribbons and reels ....

.... in più stoffe di vario genere e sul muro le foto di famiglia.

Qui ci sono la zia, lo zia, la sorella e il membro più giovane della famiglia (^_^)

.... more over some fabrics and on the wall family pictures.

Here there are auntie, uncle, her sister and the family's youngest member (^_^)

Qua ci sono i rocchetti; ognuno di loro è ritto su un perno, ne manca uno, quello bianco, perchè è in uso sulla machina.

Here are the reels; each one stands on a pin, one is missing, the white one, because it's being used on the sewing machine.

Ed una scatolina di nastri assortiti, non si sa mai a cosa possono servire.

And a small ribbons box, you never know how they might be used for.

vecchio lavoro

In mancanza di cose nuove ( sto lavorando ad un sacco di cosine ma niente è pronto) vi voglio mostrare un angolino che avevo preparato 4 anni fa per presentarmi alle miniaturiste genovesi che non conoscevo ancora. Una specie di curriculum....

Nella foto ci siamo noi tre e il telaio sulla poltrona ricorda la mia passione. Era inverno e questo spiega il decoro natalizio.

old work

Lacking new things ( I' working at some new minis but nothing is ready yet) I want to show you a small corner which I've done 4 year ago to present myself at the Genoise miniaturists. A sort of curriculum....

In the pic there are the three of us and the loop on the chair recalls my passion. It was winter and that explains th Christmas decorations.

la stanza rosa

In questo momento sto ricamando, se non velocemente di sicuro furiosamente, perciò non ho niente di nuovo da farvi vedere.
Ho deciso allora di mostrarvi un vecchio lavoro : la stanza rosa.
Ne sono molto fiera perchè è la prima cosa che ho fatto l'anno scorso dopo aver giurato che mai più avrei fatto mini. Mi ero ripromessa di non comprare niente e ci sono quasi riuscita.
La foto sul camino mostra me e Walter mentre quella sul tavolo è di Matteo.

the pink room

At the moment I'm stitching, if not fast at least furious , hence I've nothing new to show to you.
Then I decided to show you an old work: the pink room.
I'm very proud of it because it's the first thing I did after having sworn of not having anything to do with minis anymore. I did promised myself not to buy anything and I nearly succeded.
The pic on the mantel shelf is Walter's and mine while the other one is Matteo's.

San Valentino

Prima cosa: non amo San Valentino!
Quella che poteva e doveva rimanere una festa dell' amore in tutti sensi, tra amici, fidanzati, e perchè no, colleghi e compagni di scuola, è stata degradata a fiera del commercio.
Tutti a comprare cioccolatini, biancheria intima e rose rosse come se piovesse e molto spesso senza neppure sapere perchè. Solo perchè devono.
Io mi rifiuto di comprare alcunchè ma so che a tutti fa piacere un pensierino così l'anno scorso ho preparato questa cartolia a Walter.
E' tutto lavoro di riciclo ( notate il ditale che serve da glacette), l'ho fatta in due giorni ma il poster ritrae noi due in un momento felice e la tappezzeria è proprio il rosso che ci piacerebbe avere in casa se solo fosse un po' più luminosa.
Questa è la mia idea di San Valentino, un pensiero speciale solo per LA persona speciale che è vicino a noi.
Ed è per questo che auguro a tutti voi, amici di blog, un felicissimo San Valentino con chi amate.

Valentine's Day

First thing: I do not like Valentine's Day!
What could, and should, have been a celebration of love in any aspect, between friends, lovers and, why not, collegues and school fellows has been degraded to a business affair.
Everyone compulsively buying chocolates, lingerie and red roses and most of the times without even knowing why. Just because they have to.
I refuse to buy anything but I know that everyone loves a small present thus, last year, I prepared this card for Walter.
It is all ricicled ( look at the thimble dressed like a wine cooler), I did it in two days but the pic show us in a happy moment and the wall paper is just the hue of red which we'd like in our home if it only be a little sunnier.
This is my idea of Valentine, a special thought just for THE special person who is near us.
This is why I wish to you, my blog friends, the happiest Valentine's Day with whom you love.

la cucina azzurra

Oggi non ho prodotto nulla di nuovo così vi mostrerò la cucina azzurra.

Avete già visto i ricami, per cui conoscete già le tende e il tappeto ma vi farò vedere l'insieme.

Le piastrelle sono di terracotta e sono fatte da Eurosia. Il colore delle pareti è quello della mia cucina, ho usato la stessa vernice.

Il macina carne e la pentola per i sottaceti sono acquisti natalizi mentre i piatti bianchi e blu sono un regalo della mia mamma.

La gabbia con l'uccellino viene dal Brasile ed è un ricordo di viaggio.

Spero che vi piaccia.

the blue kitchen

Today I haven't done anything new thus I'll show you the blue kitchen.

You already know the stiches on curtains and rug but I'll show you the whole place.

The tiles are earthware and they are made by Eurosia. The colour on the walls is that of my kitchen, I used the same paint.

The meat grinder and the pickles pan are Christmas buyings while the blue and white dishes are a present from my mummy.

The bird cage comes from Brazil and it is a souvenir of a beautyfull trip.

I hope you'll like it.

Alcuni anni fa ho fatto questa mini room box, poco più di una cornice, per una bambina che amava Babbo Natale.

Vorrebbe essere il laboratorio di Babbo Natale dove lui sta lavorando anche si è assentato per un minutino.

Alla mia piccola amica era piaciuta, spero piaccia anche a voi.

Some years ago I did this mini room box, little more than a frame, for a little girl who loved Santa Klaus.

It should be Santa's laboratory where he is working even though he has got out for a wee minute.

My little friend liked it very much, I wish you will enjoy it as well

dentro la stanza

Oggi vi mostrerò i miei ricami all'interno della stanza rosa.
Il parafuoco è un kit inglese su garza di seta così come sono fatte su garza,ma più fine, le due silhouettes che sono state il mio primo tentativo di mini ricamo.
Il cuscino è ricamato su tela aida 72 e il copriteiera già lo conoscete.
Il bel ritratto dentro lo specchio è quello di Sabrina, la cara amica che ha scattato queste bellissime foto.

Inside the pink room box
Today I'll show you my needle work inside yhe pink room.
The firescreen is an English kit on silk gauze . Again on silk gauze, but finer, are the two silhouettes that have been my first attempt of mini stichery.
The cushion is embroidered on Aida 72 and you already know the tea cosy.
The nice potrait inside the mirror is Sabrina's, the dear friend who has shot these beautiful pictures.
