Andrea, Emilia e la famiglia Lagomarsino

§ Anni fa scrissi due post riguardanti la mia famiglia, la storia del mio bisnonno Narciso e di mia nonna Rosalba e in quell'occasione pubblicai un'immagine risalente al 1920. 

Oggi ho trovato altre due immagini che vorrei condividere con voi ma che vi prego di non copiare o utilizzare in alcun modo

§ Some years ago I wrote two posts on my family, the history of my great granfather Narciso and of my grandmother Rosalba and on that occasion I published an imagine dating back from 1920

Today I found two more pictures which I would like to share with you but I kindly ask you not to copy or use it in any way.

 

§ Emilia e Andrea, i miei bis-bisnonni da parte paterna, i genitori di Narciso.
Questo ritratto dovrebbe essere la foto del loro matrimonio. Poichè Narciso nacque nel 1887 vi lascio immaginare quando fu scattata.

§ Emilia and Andrea, my great-great-grandparents from paternal side, Narciso's parents.
This portrait should be their wedding picture. Since Narciso was born in 1887 I leave you to make up when it was shot.

§ Questa invece è la famiglia Lagomarsino, i signori al centro sono i miei bis-bisnonni mentre la signorina seduta alla sinistra del capofamiglia è Teresa, la mia bisnonna che all'epoca aveva 16 anni.
 La fotografia è firmata e datata 1912.

§ This is the Lagomarsino family, the couple in the center are my great-great-grandparents while the young lady seated the left side of the head of family is Teresa, my great-grandmother who was 16 at the time.
The picture is signed and dated 1912.

§ Poter vedere i miei antenati, cercare delle somiglianze, un'aria di famiglia è emozionante, mi dà una sensazione di continuità ed appartenenza e sono felice che queste immagini si siano conservate così bene.
Oggi le guardavo con mio padre e mio figlio: tre generazioni riunite a due precedenti e la speranza che molte altre ne seguano.

§ Being able of looking at my ancestors, searching for resemblances, a family air is thrilling, it gives me of a feeling of continuity and identity and I am happy that these pictures are so well preserved.
Today I watched at them with my father and son: three generations joined to two previous ones and the hope that many more will come.

18 anni

§ Ci siamo, il mio bambino è diventato grande ma grande davvero !

§ We got to the point, my baby has grown up , truly grown up !

§ Il mio bambino è maggiorenne e sembra solo ieri che lo tenevo in braccio timorosa perchè temevo che si rompesse.
Era così piccolo e fragile , così tenero eppure così forte e nei suoi occhi si specchiava il mondo.

§ My baby is of age and it seems only yesterday that I held him in my arms fearful that he might break.
He was so small and fragile , so tender and yet so strong and the whole world was mirrored in his eyes.

§ Adesso il mondo è suo , deve solo afferrarlo e vivere appieno la sua giovinezza ed i suoi sogni.

§ Now the world is his , he only has to grab it and fully live his youth and his dreams.

§ Amore mio, tanti tanti auguri per oggi e per tutta la tua vita.
§ My love, best wishes for today and all your life.

Aspettando Venere - Waiting for Venus

§ Svegliarsi alle 5.20 del mattino con tuo figlio

Vestirsi ed arrampicarsi sul tetto del palazzo con il telescopio

Fissare una meravigliosa scintillante Luna piena sopra la tua testa

Guardare le rondini volare basse e nutrire i loro piccini

Annusare la fragranza della focaccia che cuoce nel forno dirimpetto e che impregna l'aria

Aspettare l'alba sulla cima delle colline perchè questa mattina Venere, la Terra ed il Sole hanno un appuntamento che non si ripeterà fino al 2117

Chiacchierare con tuo figlio di sciocchezze e di cose importanti , schioccargli un bacio di tanto in tanto anche se fa finta che non gli piaccia

Ammirare i primi raggi  che salgono dai boschi lontani lontani e preparare la macchina fotografica ed il filtro solare

E d ecco , tutto ad un tratto, il Sole e la sua amica

Seguire il loro cammino finchè non si separano di nuovo per i prossimi 105 anni

Sorridersi a vicenda

Tornare giù, fare colazione con calma , prepararsi per la scuola ed il lavoro

Potete immaginare un modo migliore per iniziare una giornata?

§ Wake up at 5.20 am with your son

Get ready and climb on top of the roof with your telescope

Stare at a full shining beautiful Moon over your head

Look at the swallows flying low and feeding their babies

Smell the fragrance of baking focaccia soaking the air from the nearby bakery

Wait for the sunrise on top of hills because this morning Venus , Earth and the Sun have an appointment which will not be repeated till 2117

Chat with your son of nuisances and important things , flew a kiss to him from time to time even though he pretends not to to like them

Admire the first rays coming up the woods far far away and get ready with the camera and sun filter

And all of a sudden , look, here is the Sun and his friend

Follow their walk till they separate again for the next 105 years

Smile at each other

Climb back , have a leisurely breakfast , get ready for school and work

Can you think of a better way to start the day ?

Something for Norma

§ Qualche giorno fa Norma ci ha fatto dono di una bellissima immagine della sua mamma scattata nel 1920.

Volevo ricambiare il suo pensiero per augurarle  tanta salute e di rimettersi presto.

§ Some days ago Norma gifted us with a beautiful pic of her Mum shooted in 1920.

I wanted to give her something back wishing her all the best and a quick recovery.

§ Questa fotografia è stata scattata agli inizi del 1920 e rappresenta la mia famiglia.
Il Signore baffuto seduto in primo piano è il mio bis bis nonno Andrea.
L'uomo alto sul retro ( era un Granatiere) è il mio bisnonno Narciso, sì, quello che partì per l'America, e a fianco la sua sposa Teresa.
I bimbi sono i miei prozii Gianni e Carlo mentre la bimba con il fiocco in testa, più grande di lei, è la mia Nonna Rosalba che ora ha 91 e non li dimostra affatto.

§ This pic has been taken at the beginning of 1920 and it shows my family.
The Gentleman with the moustache is my great great grand father Andrea.
The tall guy on the back ( he was a Granadier) is my great grand father Narciso, yes, the one who left for America, and beside him his spouse Teresa.
The children are my great uncles Gianni and Carlo while the baby girl with the bow on her head, bigger than her, is my Granny Rosalba who is now 91 and doesn't feel them at all.

§ Non è il caso di dire che questa foto è strettamente personale. Sarà un piacere se vorrete copiarla per i vostri progetti ma, per favore, non usatela per farne commercio.

4 generazioni in fila - 4 generations in a row

Un post veloce veloce per festeggiare la capostipite della famiglia, la mitica Rosalba.

Proprio lei, la figlia di Narciso, il migrante in America, ed ora a capo di una tribù che la ama e un tantino la teme per la sua grinta proverbiale.

Eccola insieme ad un figlio, due nipoti e due bisnipoti.

Il grande festeggiamento per l'Highlander ( così viene affettuosamente chiamata) con TUTTA la truppa avverrà a fine mese.

Buon compleanno Nonna e 100 di questi giorni !!!

A quick quick post to celebrate family's founder, the mithical Rosalba.

It's truly she, Narciso's, the migrant to America, daughter and now head of a tribe who loves and a bit fears her for her proverbial grit.

Here is she with one son, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The big party for the Highlander ( that's how she is fondly called) with ALL the troop will be thrown at the end of the month.

Happy Birthday Nonna and 100 more of these days !!!

Ellis Island

§ Questo post non c'entra NIENTE con le miniature, non c'entra niente con Genova ma ha molto a che fare con i viaggi.

§ This post has NOTHING to do with minis, nothing to with Genoa but it has much to do with trips.

§ Oggi parlando con un'amica ho avuto un'idea che mi ha portato fino ad Ellis Island.

Tutti noi sappiamo quanti Italiani ( circa 5 milioni !!!) hanno cercato fortuna, o anche solo una vita più decente, negli USA e penso che quasi tutte le famiglie annoverino almeno un membro che si è imbarcato su una nave della speranza.

§ Today talking with a friend I had an idea which brought me straight to Ellis Island.

We all know how many Italians ( nearly 5 millions!!!) have looked for luck, or even only a more decent life, in the USA and I think the most families have at least one member who embarked on a hope ship.

§ Il mio bisnonno era uno di questi e la sua nave era la Konig Albert partita da Genova.

§ My great grandfather was one of them and his ship was the Konig Albert leaving from Genoa.

§ Partì dall'Italia a 24 anni per arrivare ad Ellis Island il 27 Settembre 1911.

E' passato quasi un secolo ma ha il sapore di una fiaba, un mito troppo lontano da noi per pensare che sia successo davvero.

Ed invece successe per lui così come per tante altre persone.

Affrontò un viaggio lungo, faticoso solo per avere un'opportunità che non pensava di avere nella sua terra natia.

§ He left Italy at 24 to arrive to Ellis Island the 27th September 1911.

Nearly one century has elapssed but it has a fairy tale flavour, a mith too far from us to think that it really happened.

And yet it did for him as well as for many other people.

He faced a long, tiring trip only to have an opportunity which he didn't think he had in his own home land.

§ Si è sottoposto alla procedura di sbarco con l'interrogatorio di pragmatica e posso solo immaginare il timore di essere rimandato indietro.

§ He underwent the disembarketion procedure with the pragmatic questioning and I can only imagine the fear of being sent back.

§ E alla fine toccò il suolo Americano ma non restò a New York, raggiunse dei cugini in California.

§ At last he touched the American ground but he didn't stay in New York, he reached some cousins in California.

§ La storia non finisce qui :o))

Pochi anni dopo Narciso, questo era il suo nome, tornò in Italia e si sposò con Maria Teresa.

Per fortuna ?!,per caso ?! sicuramente era il suo destino, scoppiò la Grande Guerra e non tornò mai più indietro.

Narciso e Teresa ebbero 11 figlioli, una era la mia nonna Rosalba così chiamata per festeggiare l'alba rosata di un nuovo mondo dopo la fine della I^ Guerra Mondiale.

E io sono proprio contenta che sia andata così.

§ The tale doesn't end here :o))

A few years later Narciso, this was his name, came back to Italy and married Maria Teresa.

Luck ?! chance ?! surely it was his destiny, the Great War blew up and he didn't go back any more.

Narciso and Teresa had 11 children, one was my granny Rosalba called so to celebrate the rosy dawn of a new world ater the end of WW1.

And I'm very happy that it ended like that.

§ Questa è Ellis Island oggi; un museo per ricordare i milioni di persone che sono passate attraverso i suoi saloni. Nel sito del museo ho trovato il registro con il nome e i dati riguardanti il bisnonno e mi sono commossa.

Cerchiamo di ricordarci quanta parte di noi, come popolo, ha dovuto lasciare tutto quello che aveva solo per inseguire un sogno.

E cerchiamo di comprendere coloro che ora fanno il viaggio inverso.

§ This is Ellis Island now; a museum to remember the millions of people who went through its corridors. In the museum website I have found the register with my great granddad name and data and I was touched.

We should try to remember how much part of us, as people, left all they had only to follow a dream.

And we should try to comprehend those who are now doing the reverse trip.

La Nonna compie 90 anni - Granny turns 90

Oggi abbiamo festeggiato la Nonna Rosalba.

Tutta la famiglia, 25 persone tra i 4 e i 70 anni, si é riunita per questa grande occasione.

Today we celebrate Nonna ( Granny) Rosalba.

All the family, 25 people between 4 and 70 years old, gathered for this great occasion.
