Prima...... - Before.......

Mi avete chiesto le foto della nostra camera.
Beh, questa è la parete che subirà il trattamento di bellezza.
La nostra camera è MOLTO piccola per cui tappezzare tutto sarebbe risultato un tantino opprimente ma questa parete rifletterà la luce e penso ci piacerà da morire.
Ora dobbiamo solo aspettare la tappezzeria che arriverà alla fine del mese.... forse....
Ma non abbiamo fretta :o)
I quadri alle pareti sono disegni a penna di un amico e rappresentano la Sacra Famiglia, dovranno trovare un'altra sistemazione ma sarà un divertimento anche questo :o)

You asked me pics of our room.
Well, this is the wall which will receive the beauty treatment.
Our room is VERY small hence decorating everything would result quite stuffy but this wall will reflect light and I think we shall love it to bits.
Now we only have to wait for the wallpaper which will be here at the end of month.... may be .....
But we are not in a hurry  :o)
The prints on the wall are pen drawings by a friend and they depict the Holy Family, they will have to move but that will be fun too :o)

Nella cassetta della Posta... - In the Mail box ....

§ Qualcuno ha capito che mi piace l'azzurro  ((^_^))
Effettivamente è  probabilmente  il mio colore preferito nell'arredamento. E' fresco e tenero senza il tocco di leziosità proprio del rosa, mi fa sentire a casa.
Queste deliziose miniature sono un regalo che Flora mi ha voluto mandare e sono davvero carine.
Mi piace l'uccellino sul vassoio, tiene nel becco un filo, di sicuro sta costruendo un nido per sè e la sua compagna.
Amo questo dettaglio che mostra un gesto di premura nei confronti dell'altro.
La stessa premura che ho percepito nel vedere la mini scatola ; la trovo bellissima.
L'avevo ammirata e commentata in un post di Flora sul suo cottage, faceva capolino su un ripiano sotto una consolle. Spero solo che Flora non se ne sia privata per me......
Grazie mille Flora, è stato un vero piacere aprire la cassetta stamattina.

§ Somebody understood that I love soft blue ((^_^))
Actually it is probably my favourite colour in decoration. It is fresh and cute without the affected touch proper of pink, it makes me feel at home.
These delightful minis are a present from Flora and they are truly cute.
I love the little bird on the tray, he keeps a straw in his beek, he is certainly making up a nest for himself and his partner.
I love this detail which shows how he takes pains over somebody else.
The same care which I perceive seeing the mini box; I think it's beautiful.
I admired and commented on it in a post by Flora on her cottage, it shyly showed itself from a shelf under a console. I only hope that Flora hasn't deprived herself of it for me ....
Thank you very much Flora, it's been a delight to open the mail box this morning.

Niente miniature per una volta.....

Per chi non lo sapesse , un bel numero di persone immagino ;o) , di fronte a casa mia c'è un negozio di tappezzerie e colori molto ben fornito e in cui lavora un gruppo di uomini gentilissimo.

Gentilissimi perchè sono così pazienti da sopportare le mie frequenti incursioni, le mie richieste di cataloghi vecchi  adatti per le mini e le mie richieste di consigli.

Tutto questo da circa 20 anni e sempre con il sorriso sulle labbra. 

Insomma sarebbero da sposare.

Finita la premessa vi mostro un catalogo realmente eccezionale, nuovo di zecca e di cui mi sono innamorata perdutamente.

No minis just for once .....

For those who don't know , I big bunch of you I guess ;o) , just in front of my condo there is a decorating shop very well stocked of wallpapers and colours and where a group of very kind men work.

Very kind because they are so patient to stand my frequent incursions, my asking for old catalogues suitable for minis and my need for advice.

All this for nearly the last 20 years and always with a smile on their lips.

Well, they would be really worth marrying.

That being stated I want show to you a really exceptional catalogue, brand new and of which I madly fall in love.

§  Per fortuna c'era il maritino con me così gli ho subito potuto mostrare quello che mi piaceva di più ed evitarmi così la noia delle spiegazione e delle descrizioni.
Doppia fortuna anche a lui piacciano le stesse cose che piacciano a me, anni di addestramento, ops insegnamento, sortiscono buoni frutti ;o)
Insomma per farla breve, oggi ho ordinato i rotoli di tappezzeria necessari per ricoprire la parete dietro la testata del letto.
Non penso che piacerà a tutti, è "un po' " pesantuccia, ma il mio amore per gli alberi finalmente si potrà manifestare.
Non vedo l'ora che arrivi (((^_^))))

§ Luckily there was hubby with me so I could show him immediately what I liked best and I saved myself from the bore of explaining and describing what I saw.
Double luck that he likes the same things I do, years of training, ops teaching, have given good fruits ;o)
To make long story short , today I  placed an order for the rolls I need to cover the wall behind our bed.
I don't think everybody will like it, it's a "bit" bold, but my love for trees will at least show up.
I cannot look forward for it (((^_^)))

Il primo giorno - The first day

Chi mi ha chiesto com'è andato il primo, e poi il secondo, giorno di lavoro ?

No, non è stato così !

Ho trovato ad aspettarmi una serie di appuntamenti , per fortuna uno era con una cara amica ((^_ ^)) così mi sono tirata su di morale perchè poi ..... solo ottuagenari !!

Non mi fraintendete, io adoro i miei vecchietti ma un 45enne simpatico ed aitante mai ??!!

Comunque la voce è tornata, il tempo è migliorato, io mi sento bene e vi ringrazio tutte per l'affetto che mi avete dimostrato.

Who asked me about the first, and then second  day at work ?

No, it hasn't been like that !

I found  a set of appointements waiting for me , luckily one was with a dear friend of mine ((^_^))

who cheered me up because after her ..... only octagenarians.

Don't  misunderstand, I love my little old customers but what about a nice handsome 45 year-old guy ??!!

Anyway the voice has come back, the weather has got better , I feel fine and I want to thank you all for the lovely comments you have sent to me.

Primavera

§ Mi sento molto meglio !!!

La mia voce è ancora un mix tra quella di Amanda Lear e Darth Vader ma riesco a parlare anche per 5 minuti di seguito.

Che è infinitamente più di quello che riuscivo a fare finora prima di boccheggiare come un pesce fuor d'acqua.

Oggi ci sarà la prova del fuoco: torno al lavoro .

Vi racconterò come è andata.

§  I feel much better !!!

My voice is still a mix between those of Amanda Lear and Darth Vader but I can even manage to talk 5 minutes on stretch.

This is infinitely more than what I could do before starting to gasp like a fish on dry land.

Today there will be the big trial : I am going back to work.

I shall tell you how it has gone.

§ Ovviamente in questi giorni di quiete forzata non sono rimasta con le mani in mano e, visto che la Primavera fuori è scoppiata e io non me la godevo, ho portato un pochino di spirito primaverile in casa mia.

Ho fatto dei fiori :o)))))

§ Obviously during those forcibly quiet days I had not idle hands and, since Spring has exploded outside and I couldn't enjoy it, I brought a bit of spring spirit inside my home.

I made flowers :o)))))

 §  Questo è il mio tavolo con tulipani, peonie e campanule.
Sembra un lavoro da niente ed in realtà mangia un saaaaaacco di tempo.

§ Here is my table with tulips, peonies and bellflowers.
It looks like a trifle work but in reality it is time consuming.

§  Le peonie sono un kit di Pascale Garnier, comprato l'anno scorso e mai fatto per totale mancanza di tempo.
Onestamente non sono molto soddisfatta, ogni peonia ha circa 80 petali distinti ma non sono riuscita a creare l'effetto morbido e "pomponoso" (mi si passi il neologismo) dei veri fiori.
Devo impratichirmi un po' e poi riprovare.

§ The peonies are a kit by Pascale Garnier, bought last year and never done for absolute lack of time.
Honestly I am not very happy, each peony has up to 80 separate petals but I didn't achieve the soft, fluffy look of real flowers.
I must practise a bit and then try again.

§  Un altro kit di Pascale e di questo sono felice.
La brocca ed il catino languivano in un angolo da anni , quando ho visto questo kit mi si sono illuminati gli occhi. Anche se non si vede molto dentro ogni fiore c'è un pistillo ed ogni corolla ha i sepali.
Fantastico kit di grandissima soddisfazione.

§ Another kit by Pascale of which I am very happy.
The jug and bowl have been languishing in a corner for years so when I saw this kit I brightened up. Even though it's hardly visible inside each flower there is a stamen and each cup has its own sepal.
Gorgeous kit of great satisfaction.


§ Ma la più grande soddisfazione sono stati i tulipani.
Non perchè siano particolarmente realistici ma perchè erano un kit di Bonnie Lavish francamente un po' tristino.
La carta era spessa ed in teoria bianca. Dico in teoria perchè essendo i fiori tagliati al laser , magnifico taglio comunque, avevano un colore di carta bruciata decisamente poco invitante.
Mi sono armata di colori e vernice e mi sono sbizzarrita.
Le foglie hanno ancora bisogno di un ritocchino ma mi riprometto di farlo presto, così come mi riprometto di cambiare il vaso che proprio non ci azzecca niente. Pensavo qualcosa di blu, oppure rosso ..... ci penserò.

§ But the greatest satisfaction have been these tulips.
Not because they are particularly realistic  but because they started from a Bonnie Lavish kit which frankly was a bit sad.
The paper was thick and white in theory. I say in theory because being the flowers laser cut, wonderful cut BTW, they had  definitely a not appealing burnt colour.
I braced myself with colours and varnish and I had fun.
The leaves are still in need of a touch up but I promised myself to do it soon as I can, as well as I promised to change the vase which really doesn't match at all. I was thinking of something blue, or red ..... I shall think about it.

Drink tea

§ Sans mi a suggerito una cura diversa e, come sempre, ha ragione.
Sto bevendo tea piuttosto che mangiando cupcakes, per di più sono a dieta.
Grazie a tutti voi per i vostri commenti sempre carini e amabili, mi tirate su di morale.

Sylvia, hai ASSOLUTAMENTE ragione, una  Rosanna zitta è impossibile;o)))

Prenderò un paio di giorni di mutua o non mi libererò mai di questa scocciatura.

Keep calm

Chiedo scusa a tutti per il lungo silenzio, per la mancanza di commenti e per la scarsa partecipazione ai vostri blogs. Cerco di tenermi aggiornata con tutti voi ma ho qualche problemino di salute  ... niente di grave , tranquilli, ma sufficienti a tenermi da parte.

La cosa più seccante è che sono quasi completamente afona e quando provo a parlare mi manca letteralmente il fiato  :o((  qualsiasi piccolo sforzo mi affatica.

Questo mi crea grossi problemi sul lavoro anche se sono così scema da continuare a lavorare come al solito.

Ma soprattutto a me PIACE parlare !!!! sono una chiacchierona !!!!  e le ciacole mi mancano tanto !

Chi mi conosce lo sa ;o)))

I have to apologize for my long silence, the lack of comments and the little involvement in your blogs. I try to keep myself update with you all but I have some small health problems....nothing serious, don't worry,  but enough to keep me aside.
What's most annoying is that I am nearly completely aphonic and whenever I try to speak I get  litterally breathless  :o((   every little effort strains myself.
This gives me a lot of problems with my job even though I am so fool to keep going to work as usual.
But most  all I LOVE talking !!!! I am a chatterbox !!!! and I miss so much my chitchat.
Those who met me, know that well ;o)))

Swaps

§ Dopo molti, moltissimi giorni riesci finalmente a scrivere un post sugli swap tra Sonya, Maria e a sottoscritta.

A causa di due problemi cronici, la totale carenza di luce naturale a casa mia che non mi permetteva di fare foto minimamente decenti ed un perenne mal di testa che non mi permetteva di guardare lo schermo per più di pochi minuti di seguito, ho sempre rimandato.

§ After many, many days I manage to write a post on the swaps between Sonya, Maria and me.

Due to two cronic problems, the total lack of natural light at my home which didn't allow me to take a even closely decent picture and a perennial headache which didn't allow me to sit in front of the screen for more than a couple of minutes, I always delayed it.

§  Per le foto ho rimediato.... chiedendo a Sonya e Maria di poter usare le loro.

Buon Compleanno Italia - Happy Birthday Italia

Oggi è un giorno importante, il 150° anniversario del nostro paese di cui dovremmo essere fieri ed orgogliosi.
Essere Italiani non è un fatto legato ad un documento, ad un riconoscimento ufficiale ma si nasce , e si diventa, Italiani grazie all'aria che respiriamo,agli umori che assorbiamo, alla terra che ci nutre ed al cielo che ci protegge.
E' dovuto alla memoria storica che ci accompagna in ogni istante della nostra vita quando per la prima volta da bambini solleviamo gli occhi verso i grandi monumenti che ci circondano.
E' l'orgoglio di un grande passato che è ancora vivo nel nostro DNA.
E'  il suono della nostra lingua, una delle più belle del mondo perchè è stata "inventata" e codificata dal più grande poeta, Dante e da un sommo scrittore quale Manzoni.
Essere Italiani è insieme una gioia ed una condanna.
Una gioia per quanto il nostro paese ci sa offrire ed una condanna per il nostro carattere nazionale che non sa apprezzare al meglio i grandi doni che ci sono stati porti.
Perchè in realtà non c'è ancora una Italia ma tante piccole Italiette, tante quanti sono i  paesi , tante quante sono le città e per assurdo, tante quante sono le famiglie Italiane.
Svegliamoci dal Limbo del nostro particolare e guardiamoci intorno, non siamo soli con i nostri cari ma tutti coloro che ci circondano dovrebbero esserci altrettanto vicini.
Non facciamoci scoraggiare dalla classe politica, dagli scandali di cui ogni giorno siamo passivi testimoni, non rallegriamoci del fatto che " le brutte cose" non ci toccano. Per ora.
Sentiamoci uniti, sentiamoci Italiani e per favore, non solo in occasione dei Mondiali o delle Olimpiadi o dei viaggi all'estero quando cerchiamo gli spaghetti come drogati in crisi d'astinenza.
Io non sono una gran patriota, non ho una bandiera esposta sul balcone, in realtà non guardo neppure i Mondiali e non sono una gran mangiatrice di pasta però sono certa che solo nell' Unità si possa trovare la forza per risollevare il  paese e che solo restando uniti potremo sopravvivere come Paese.
Perciò auguro BUON COMPLEANNO ITALIA e tanti auguri a tutti noi che abbiamo la fortuna di essere Italiani.

Something for Norma

§ Qualche giorno fa Norma ci ha fatto dono di una bellissima immagine della sua mamma scattata nel 1920.

Volevo ricambiare il suo pensiero per augurarle  tanta salute e di rimettersi presto.

§ Some days ago Norma gifted us with a beautiful pic of her Mum shooted in 1920.

I wanted to give her something back wishing her all the best and a quick recovery.

§ Questa fotografia è stata scattata agli inizi del 1920 e rappresenta la mia famiglia.
Il Signore baffuto seduto in primo piano è il mio bis bis nonno Andrea.
L'uomo alto sul retro ( era un Granatiere) è il mio bisnonno Narciso, sì, quello che partì per l'America, e a fianco la sua sposa Teresa.
I bimbi sono i miei prozii Gianni e Carlo mentre la bimba con il fiocco in testa, più grande di lei, è la mia Nonna Rosalba che ora ha 91 e non li dimostra affatto.

§ This pic has been taken at the beginning of 1920 and it shows my family.
The Gentleman with the moustache is my great great grand father Andrea.
The tall guy on the back ( he was a Granadier) is my great grand father Narciso, yes, the one who left for America, and beside him his spouse Teresa.
The children are my great uncles Gianni and Carlo while the baby girl with the bow on her head, bigger than her, is my Granny Rosalba who is now 91 and doesn't feel them at all.

Country USA

§ Sono stata silenziosa.
La settimana è stata lunga ed intensa come sempre dopo una vacanza: si deve recuperare ciò che non si è fatto prima.
Durante le ferie però sono riuscita a fare un lavoretto per un'amica che sta costruendo una  casa country americana. Poichè l' ha già ricevuto ve lo mostro.
E' piccolo piccolo ed i colori sono ispirati alla palette della sua casetta. La micro bandiera è un omaggio al paese a cui la casetta è ispirata.
A presto, soprattutto a chi devo ancora una mail, come minimo !

§ I have been silent.
Last week has been long and full as always after a holiday: you have to catch up with what you haven't done before.
But during the holidays I managed to do a small work for a friend who is building an American country house. Since she already got it I can show it to you as well.
It is teeny tiny, the colours match to  the palette of her own house. The wee flag is a homage to the country by which the little house has been inspired.
See you soon, specially with those to whom I still owe a mail, at least !

Siamo tornati - We are back

Tut per ciotole - Bowls tut

Per prima cosa avrete bisogno della ceramica in polvere e di un contenitore per uova di quaglia tagliato in due.
Il bello della ceramica in polvere è che dà come  risultato un oggetto liscio e poco poroso, perfetto per essere decorato come si vuole.
First thing you'll need ceramic dust and a quail eggs plastic container.
The nice aspect of ceramic dust is that any object made with it, is smooth and no porous, perfect to be decorated in any way you choose

Mescolate la polvere e l'acqua in proporzione 3/1
Mix the dust and water in 3/1 proportions

Il composto deve essere liscio e denso
The mix must be smooth and thick

Versatene un cucchiaino da caffè in ogni buchetto
Pour a coffee soon of mixture in each hole

Coprite con il secondo pezzo del contenitore e fate asciugare tutta la notte
Cover with the second piece of the container and let it dry over night

Ecco il risultato
Here it what you'll have

Tante ciotoline

E ora la parte noiosa: lisciare il bordo con la carta vetro
And now the boring part: smooth the edges with sand paper 

Non è facile farle dritte :o(
It isn't easy to make them straight :o(

Per un effetto porcellana dipingetele con due mani di acrilico
For a china effect paint them with two coats of acrilic

E poi due mani di vernice sia dentro che fuori
And then two coats of varnish both inside and ouside

Se volete potete aggiungere qualche luccicchio
If you want you can add some bling

Ecco fatta la ciotola
Here is your bowl

Con lo stesso sistema potete fare qualunque tipo di ciotola.

Il mio primo tentativo è stato con la polvere rossa e ho realizzato delle ciotole etniche che poi ho regalato a Sans.

 Per il secondo ho usato la polvere bianca, non le ho dipinte ma solo decorate con piccoli pennelli e poi verniciate. Potete vederle nella baita di Caterina.

With this method you can do any type of bowl.

For my first attempt I used red powder and I made bowls which I presented to Sans.

For the second one I used white dust but I didn't paint them but I only decorated them with tiny brushes and then I glazed them. You can see them in Caterina's baita.

Ma ricordate che è facilissimo farle, la cosa più difficile è trovare ..... le uova di quaglia !
But remember that they are very easy to do, the most difficult thing is finding ... the quail eggs !

La ciotola azzurra - The blue bowl

§ Ultimamente sono un po' giù di corda....

Non c'è nessun motivo reale, stiamo bene di salute, non ci manca nulla, andiamo d'accordo e da un paio di giorni c'è perfino il sole.

Cosa  chiedere di più ?

Niente, me ne rendo conto. Sarei un'ingrata a lamentarmi ed anche una sciocca.

Ma tant'è  non riesco a combattere questa sensazione di insoddisfazione. Come se ci fosse qualcosa di incompiuto e di importante.

Sarà l'arrivo della Primavera, saranno gli ormoni, sarà la ciccia che aumenta e che non riesco a debellare...

Sarà che non lo so e questo mi fa arrabbiare come una matta !

Allora miniaturizzo.

Faccio cose  che non sono neppure nelle mie corde, così, tanto per vedere come vengono.

Questa coppa molto stile imperiale è un esempio.

Non è il mio genere ma mi piace e mi ha regalato qualche mezz'ora di tranquillità.

§ Lately I'm a little out of sorts.

There is no real reason, we are in good health, we lack of nothing, we get along together and for the last few days we even had sunshine.

What more can  ask ? 

Nothing , I realize. I would be ungrateful to complain and also a fool.

But anyhow I cannot fight this feeling of unsatisfaction. As if there was something unfinished and important.

May be it's the arrival of Spring, may be it's the hormones, may be it's the fat on my tummy which I cannot eliminate..... 

May it's because I don't know and that makes me angry like a madwoman !

Then I miniaturize.

I do things which are not even my usual kind of works, just to see how they turn out.

This imperial style bowl is an example.

It's not my piece of cake but I like it and it granted me some half a hour of peace of mind.

§ Sono solo pezzetti di bronzo dorato, qualche cm di bordini di carta e una ciotolina di polvere ceramica fatta da me ma mi sorride.
Forse è il colore, azzurro come il cielo d'inverno a Genova.

§ They are only bits of brass, a few cms of paper trimmings (thank you Jill) and a little bowl casted by me with ceramic powder but it smiles to me.
May be it's the colour, blue like a winter sky in Genoa.

Domenica a Miniaturitalia comprerò quello che mi manca e, se volete, farò un mini tutorial anche se guardando le foto è abbastanza facile capire come si fa.

On Sunday at Miniaturitalia I shall buy what I lack and, if you want, I shall make a tut even though looking at the pics is quite easy to read how to do it.
