Genova .......

...... è una città buffa .

Questo è il panorama che si può ammirare con una passeggiata di 13 minuti da casa mia.

Tredici minuti e si è in aperta campagna.

La cosa buffa è che se , partendo da casa , si cammina nella direzione opposta per 13 minuti si  arriva sulla riva del  mare.

Una città sottile come un nastro......

....... is a funny city.
This is the landscape which you can admire after a brief 13 minutes walk from my home.
Thirteen minutes and you are in the countryside.
The funny fact is that  if you walk from my home in the opposite direction for 13 minutes , then you'll be at the sea shore.
A city as stretched as a ribbon .....

Già di ritorno :o(( - We are already back :o((

Siamo già qui......

Sapevo che le nostre vacanze sarebbero state brevi ma abbiamo dovuto accorciarle ancora di più.

We are already here....

I knew that our holidays would have been short ones but we had to shorten them even more.

Come mai ?  per via del tempo !

Why ? because of the weather !

Questa è la bellissima Merano, la nostra prima tappa.

Qui abitano due cari amici e la  loro primogenita di soli due mesi , una bambolina di nome Alice e con loro abbiamo trascorso una deliziosa giornata.

This is beautiful Merano, our first stop.

Here live two friends and their first born, a little doll named Alice who is only two months old.

We spent a most delightful day and evening with them.

Poi , il giorno dopo, ci siamo spostati in Val Badia dove ci aspettava questa casetta dai balconi fioriti.....
The day after we moved to Val Badia where this house was waiting for us  with its flowery balconies....

..... e dalle camere accoglienti.
..... and with cozy rooms.

Ma ,ahimè, il tempo non era all'altezza della casetta.

But , alas, the weather was  not worth of the little house.

 

Per tre giorni ha piovuto !!!!  ha nevicato in quota !!! e le previsioni per la prossima settimana non sono migliori :o(((
It rained for three days !!! it snowed on the peaks !!! and forecast for next week are not at all encouraging :o(((

Abbiamo gironzolato in macchina per i paesini vicini ma non abbiamo potuto fare le belle passeggiate che ci eravamo ripromessi.
Dimenticavo..... la temperatura massima è stata 7° C !!
We strolled around by car to the neighbouring villages but we couldn't do the nice trekkings which we were looking for.
I forgot ..... maximum temperature was 7°C !!

Così ce ne siamo andati a Verona che per noi era una novità.
Vi lascio con l'Arena ......
Se guardate attentamente potrete vedere delle comparse vestite da Egiziani , ovviamente in onore dell' Aida.

So we went to Verona where we had never been before.
I leave you with the Arena , a Roman amphitheathre where concerts are held.
If you look closely you'll see two actor dressed up in Egiptian costumes. This because Aida is the best known opera performed in the Arena.

Winter Fairy

Nei giorni  scorsi una fatina è arrivata a casa mia ad annunciare il KDF.
Questo è il manifesto della Fiera di Natale e la splendida Fata dell' Inverno è opera delle mani magiche di Daniela Messina ossia Celidonia.
E' talmente bella che io ho incorniciato un manifesto per appenderlo in casa nel mio angolino.

In the last few days a Fairy arrived at my house to herald the KDF.
This is the show poster and the wonderful Winter Fairy is another piece made by the magical hands of Daniela Messina aka Celidonia.
She is so beautiful that I framed one poster to hang it in my house in my corner.

§ Dire che sono emozionata ed eccitata è una grossolana sottovalutazione dei miei sentimenti.
Inutile dire che ho già cominciato a disegnare come una pazza.

§ Saying that I am excited and thrilled is a rough underestimation of my feelings.
Needless to say that I have already begun drawing like a mad woman.

§ La cosa buffa è che io non sono mai stata alla fiera come visitatore .... spero solo di avere un po' di tempo per potermi godere lo spettacolo di tanti fantastici artisti ed artigiani riuniti sotto lo stesso tetto.
§ The funny fact is that I have never been to the fair as a visitor ..... I only wish that I'll have a bit of time to enjoy the show of so many fabulous craftmen/women and artists gathered under the same roof.

§ Vorrei ringraziare tutti gli amici che mi hanno spronato a fare la domanda : senza il loro incoraggiamento non ne avrei mai avuto il coraggio.
§ I want to thank all the friends who spurred me to apply for it : without their encouragement I would have never been so brave to do it.

§ The Wizard of Oz, I read the books when I was a child and it still has a place in my heart.

The book is delightfully SMALL with wonderful llustrations and readable ....with a magnifing lens ;o)

§ E poi uno dei miei libri per ragazzi preferito: Il Giardino Segreto. Lo lessi da bambina, da ragazzina, l'ho letto a mio figlio e ancora adesso circola per casa. Un grande amore.
§ And then one of my favourite children book: The Secret Garden. I read it when I was a child, a teenager. I read it to my son and it is still around now. A great love.

§ Anche questo ha bellissime illustrazioni ed è leggibile, un piccolo capolavoro.
§ This too has beautiful pictures and it's readable, a great small work of craftmanship.

§ Ma Caterina non ha pensato solo al cibo per la mente , ha pensato a riempirci anche lo stomaco ;o)
§ But Caterina didn't send me only food for soul , she thought of our stomach too ;o)

§ Il mio pezzo preferito ? la busta di mozzarelle ! Si apre e dentro ci sono tre pacchetti individuali.

§ My favourie piece ? the bag of mozzarelle ! you can open it and inside there are three individual packets. And they are SOFT !!!  I spent a bit of time squashing them between my fingers. Better than an antistress ball (^_^)

 § Dopodichè freschi e croccanti carciofi da Oiseau de Nimes che è stata così carina da portarmeli a Parigi. Qui li vedete esposti nei vasi rinascimentali e nel cestino rugginoso dono di Roberta.
§ Then fresh and crunchy artichockes by Oiseau de Nimes who has been so kind to take them to Paris for me. Here they are exposed in the renaissance vases and rusty crate gift from Roberta

 § Ed ecco un altro regalo di una blogger carinissima da Edimburgo, Jackie.
Mi ha portato dei barattoli e delle tovagliette decorati con papaveri per accordarsi con la mia cucina.
Davvero un pensiero gentile.

She brought me canisters and towels decorated with  poppies to match with my kitchen.

La stanza di Marta in scatola - Marta's room in a box

§§ Marta sta per sposarsi.

§ Marta is getting married.

§ Marta è una mia collega ed è una delle persone più carine, intelligenti e capaci che io abbia mai avuto il piacere di conoscere. Potrebbe essere mia figlia e spesso penso che mi considerei fortunata ad avere, un domani, una nuora come lei.

§ Marta is a colleague of mine and she is one one the prettiest, cleverest and most capable person whom I ever had the pleasure to meet.

She might be my daughter and I often think tha I'd be lucky to have, some day, a daughter in law like her.

§  Quando annunciò il suo matrimonio circa 1 anno fa pensai di farle una room box per ricordare l'evento.

Ovviamente avendo tanto tempo davanti ... mi sono ridotta all'ultimo momento ! ossia venerdì notte fino alle 2 ed oltre.

§ When she announced her wedding last year I thought of doing a roombox as a souvenir.

Obviously having so much time ahead .... I reduced myself to the very last minute ! aka last Friday night till 2 am and plus.

 § Avevo pronta solo la poltroncina e la scatola che nel frattempo s era macchiata perciò ho rifatto il coperchio. 

Il vestito è stato un incubo! ho sempre avuto il massimo rispetto per che fa bambole ma ora si è centuplicato !!

Ho rifatto il corpetto tre volte e, vi assicuro, spero che il vestito vero le stia MOLTO meglio.

§ I only had the chair ready and the box which in the meanwhile had got dirty hence I redid the cover.

The dress has been a nightmare ! I always had the greatest respect for whom make dolls but now is 100 times more !!

The corset has been done thrice and , trust me, I hope that the real one will fit her MUCH better than this one.

 § Ho aggiunto un pizzico di blu per buona fortuna ;o)

§ I added a pinch of blue for good luck ;o)

§ Ho preparato un bouquet di roselline di carta bianca e le bomboniere con dei fiorellini di fimo rosa.

§ I made a posy of white  paper roses and party favours with pink fimo flowers

 § La seggiolina è rivestita di lino ricamato con le loro iniziali, Marta e Antonio

§ The chair is covered with lined with their initials, Marta and Antonio, stitched on it

 § Poi ho fatto una torta pazza stile Tè con il Cappellaio Matto coperta di cuoricini e un vassoietto di macarons per ingannare l'attesa. La bottiglia di Berlucchi, l'unica cosa che ho comprato insieme al manichino, aspetta di essere stappata.

§ Then I made a wonky cake, like the ones of the Mad Hatter,  covered with little hearts and a dish of macarons to help during the waiting. The Berlucchi bottle, the only bought thing together with the mannequin, is waiting to be opened.

§ E poi ovviamente regali da aprire 

§ And the of course presents to be opened.

§ Mancano  ancora le partecipazioni, il menù e il libretto da Messa ma Marta me li porterà da ridurre dopo la cerimonia.

§ It's still missing the wedding stationery such as the Mass booklet and the menu but Marta will give them to me to reduce after the wedding.

§ Ed ora basta fare mini per un po'.

Vi devo ancora mostrare ciò che ho acquistato a Parigi ed alcuni bellissimi regali che ho ricevuto.

I still have to show to you what I bought in Paris and some beautiful presents which I received.

W le carousel

§ Ed infine ultimo, ma non per importanza, il copriteiera giostra che si accompagna al sedile che ho ricamato per la camera della futura ( sigh ....) Casa Rossa
§ Last but not least the carousel teacozy which I made to match with the seat I did for the future (sigh ...) Casa Rossa.

§ Ha la particolarità di essere rotondo e di avere due tagli per permettere al manico ed al beccuccio della teiera di fuoriuscire.

§ It has the peculiarity of being rounded and it has two cuts to allow the spout and handle to peak through.

§ Il solo problema è il tempo necessario per fare una cosina così piccola: più di 12 ore !

§ The only problem is the time needed to make such a small thing: more than 12 hours !

SIMP 2011 - 2^ puntata

§ Come vi avevo detto c'era qualcosa d'altro. Qualcosa di piccolino e, spero, nuovo.

Quando ero piccola avevo un copriuovo lavorato a maglia con la faccetta di un bambino, mi piaceva moltissimo ed è  stato lo spunto per questi oggettini. 

Avevo, ho , tante idee ma il tempo è tiranno :o( comunque, se piaceranno , ci saranno tante nuove faccette sorridenti in giro prossimamente.

§ I told you that there was something more. Something small and , I hope, new.

When I was small I owned a  knitted eggcozy with a child's face on it. I loved it and it was the inspiration for these little ones.

I had, I have, lots of ideas but time is short :o( anyway, if they will be successfull, there will be many more smiling little faces around soon.

 § Ognuno di loro ha il suo carattere e le sue peculiarità . Ho cercato di renderli unici. E lo sono :o))

§ Each one has its character and its own peculiarities. I tried to make them unique. And they are :o))

Papaveri - Poppies

§ Qualche giorno fa Patty ha lanciato un giveaway mettendo in palio le sue mini tegole.

La particolarità stava nel fatto che i primi tre commenti avrebbe comunque vinto un set di tre tegoline ed io sono stata la seconda :o)

§ Some days ago Patty launched a giveaway on her blog and the prize were her mini tiles.

The peculiarity was that the first three comments would have won three tiles anyway and I was the second :o)

§ Ieri sono arrivate, ben fasciate e protette nella loro scatolina, carine da morire e, fortuna ha voluto, perfette per la mia mini cucina.
§ They arrived yesterday, well packed and protected inside their box, cute to die for and, for good misure, perfect for my mini kitchen.

§ Eh sì, perchè sono decorate con papaveri, lo stesso soggetto del quadro sulla madia.
§ Yes, because they are decorated with poppies, the same subject of the painting over the table.

§ Le ho subito appese ed ho approfittato di un raggio di sole solitario per fare una fotina.

§ I immediately hung them up and I tried to make the best of a lonely sun ray.

§ Mi piacciono moltissimo e non posso fare altro che ringraziare Patty per la sua gentilezza.
