Ieri ho avuto il mio Natale anticipato.

Dopo una luuuunga giornata di lavoro ho trovato tre pacchetti ad aspettarmi.

Negli ultimi tempi ho fatto un po' di spesucce on line....

Elisabetta Buffatti è l'artefice di queste tazze.

La tazza rossa è stata fatta su mia richiesta poichè volevo, nella mia mini casa, la MIA tazza preferita, quella che è sempre in giro perchè lì il tè è più buono.

Ed Elisabetta ha fatto un piccolo, nel vero senso della parola, miracolo.

§ Postino piccino picciò: gli indirizzi pensavo di chiederli con il promemoria che farò tra 15 giorni ma se volete scambiarli tra di voi.... fate pure, anzi meglio così potrete fare due chiacchere.

Swap di Natale - Christmas Swap

§ Lo Swap di Natale può avere inizio!

Le regole sono semplicissime, ognuna di voi manderà un dono ad una persona e ne riceverà uno da un'altra amica.

Non voglio stabilire valori, pensate solo a fare ciò che vi viene meglio e non abbiate paura di non essere all'altezza.

L'unico limite che vi pongo è che deve essere un oggetto legato al Natale e NON deve essere rosso o verde; pensate ad un Natale rosa, viola, blu, giallo, argento, oro, nero, bianco....pensate a colori !!

Il dono dovrà essere spedito in un contenitore insolito ;o)) sbizzarritevi!

Ogni pacchetto dovrà essere spedito entro il 5 Dicembre per essere sicure che ognuna abbia il suo pacchetto in tempo per Natale.

Scriverò un post ogni 2 settimane come promemoria.

Per favore, quando spedirete il pacchetto mandatemi una fotina del regalo così potrò fare un post collettivo.

The rules are very easy, each one of you will send a present to one person and she will receive one from another friend.

I do not want to state a value, simply think what you do better and do not be afraid of mistakes, you do not have to keep up with anybody.

The only limit is that it must be an object related to Christmas and it must NOT be red or green; think to a pink, purple, yellow, blu, silver, gold, black, white Christmas.... think in colours !!

The gift will have to be wrapped in an unusual container ;o)) have fun !

The present will have to be sent within 5th December to be sure that everyone will have her package in time for Christmas.

I shall post a reminder every 2 weeks.

Please, when you will send the package, email me a pic of the gift thus I shall make a collective post.

un cuscino patchwork - a patchwork pillow

§ Qualche giorno fa un'amica ha spedito ad un'amica una coperta patchwork.

Ho ricevuto una foto via email e appena l'ho visto non ho potuto resistere e ho fatto un cuscino che riprende i disegni dell'originale e che raggiungerà la coperta.

Questo è dedicato sia all'autrice che alla ricevente di una cosa deliziosa ed ispiratrice.

I had a pic of it via email and as soon as I saw it I could not help myself and I stitched a pillow with the same drawings of the original one which will reach the quilt.

This is dedicated both to the maker and the recipient of a delightful and inspiring goodie.

GENOVA

§ Oggi è stata una giornata impegnativa.

Il tempo è stato meraviglioso, sembrava primavera e ti dava l'energia per fare un saaaaacco di cose.

Ho cominciato riverniciando un tavolino da caffè che mi aveva stancato; ora non è più color noce ma avorio e mi piace molto di più.

Nel pomeriggio sono stata al mercatino dell'antiquariato a Palazzo Ducale e poi sono finalmente andata vedere GENOVA al cinema .

Il film è strano, triste e senza un finale risolto ma già lo sapevo.

In realtà sono andata per vedere la mia città, come era stata trattata.

Bene, sono contenta! non è stata trasformata in una cartolina. Si vedono le grandi chiese, i palazzi meravigliosi e la ricchezza della nostra cultura ma fianco a fianco ci sono anche i topi morti e l'intonaco che si scrosta.

E' un'immagine sincera e per me è stato commovente vedere i "miei" posti con gli occhi di uno straniero.

§ Today it has been a busy day.

The weather was wonderful, it was like spring and it gave you energy to do a looooot of things.

I begun painting a coffee table which had bored me; now it's not walnut anymore but ivory and I like it much more.

In the afternoon I went to the brocante market at Palazzo Ducale and then I , at last, went to see GENOVA at the cinema.

The film is strange, sad and without a real ending but I already knew it.

Actually I went to see my own city, how it has been treated.

Well, I'm happy ! it has not been transformed in a postcard. You can see the great churches, the imposing palaces and the wealth of our culture but elbow to elbow there are also the dead rats ad the falling plaster.

It's a truthful picture and it has been moving for me, looking at "my" places with a foregneir's eyes.

§ Oggi anche io festeggerò Halloween per la prima volta in vita mia.

Tornando a casa ho trovato un grande pacco e SAPEVO cosa, o meglio chi, c'era dentro.

Signore e Signori, vi presento il sig Zucca Vuota che sale dalla cantina allo stremo delle sue forze.

§ Tonight I'll celebrate Halloween for the first time in my life.

un regalo dall'Olanda - a gift from Nederlands

§ Quest'estate Sabiha si era gentilmente offerta di mandarmi una scaletta.

Avendola vista sul suo blog le avevo scritto per proporle uno scambio e lei gentilmente aveva accettato. Tutto bene se le Poste Italiane si fossero comportate bene !!

E invece..... non è mai arrivato.

Ma Sabiha non ha perso la fiducia e ne ha fatto un'altra .

Questo è il bellissimo pacchetto che ho trovato nella cassetta della posta.

§ Last summer Sabiha had kindly agreed to make a ladder for me.

I saw it on her blog and I wrote her to propose a swap and she was willing to do it. Very easy if the Italian Mail could work efficiently !!

And instead ..... it has never arrived.

but Sabiha has not given up hope and she has done a new one.

This is the beatiful parcel that I found yesterday in my mail box.

tin boxes dance - part 2

This is for those who could not understand Daniela's blog.

You should have mailed. Daniela at her address giving your name, address and link, if you have one.

Then Daniela would have given you another address and the parcel should be sent before 5th December to allow everyone to receive it in time for Christmas.

you are right ! Why don't we do a Christmas swap on our own?

A circle swap would be easier and each one of us would only do one piece.

I think it should be Christmas related and mailed at the beginning of December to let the Mail Service to do its job.

Once I joined an Advent swap, it was nice but everyone had to do 4 series of objects (16 in total) and send them to 4 people: nice but difficult and too much time consuming.

If you agree you should send me a comment here, you have time till 5th November.

I shall randomly form the chain of names and I'll let you know.

You will have 1 month time before mailing the gift to its recipient.

I hope we shall be numerous .....

§ Vi propongo un'iniziativa: la danza delle scatole di latta.

No, non è una mia idea ma di una blogger che abita a Parigi.

Si chiama Daniela e il suo blog è Calme et Cacao .

In pratica è uno swap in cui ognuno spedisce una scatola di latta ma all'interno deve esserci un pensierino, una cosa piccola, come qualcosa di dimenticato e poi ritrovato.

Ara's swap

§ Ora che Ara ha pubblicato le foto dello swap posso mostrarvi uno dei miei ultimi lavoretti.

Questa tovaglia è per la famiglia Addams, è un progetto molto semplice il cui vero punto di forza è il filato. Infatti il filo da ricamo è fosforescente, brilla al buio ! un effetto molto piacevole.

Purtroppo non si riesce a fotografare perciò sarà sempre solo per gli occhi di Ara.

§ Now that Ara has published the pics of the swap I can show you one of my last little works.

This tablecloth is for the Addams' family, the project is very simple and its major point is the floss.

Actually the floss glows in the dark ! a very nice effect.

Unfortunately it is hard to shoot at, hence it will be for Ara's eyes only.

§ Mio fratello Alessandro mi ha lanciato una sfida: provare ad eguagliare questo oggetto straordinario.

Inutile dire che non si può fare altro che restare a bocca aperta.

Ho visto un originale di questo ago al Museo di Montelimar e davvero lascia senza fiato.

§ My brother Alessadro has challenged me: try to do something like this extraordinary object.

Needless to say that the only thing that I could do is to stare at it open mouthed.

I have seen an original needle at Montelimar Museum and it really leaves you breathless.

friendship award

I know I'm late, awfully late, but last week I as so busy that I could hardly do anything.

Matteo was ill, I had to go to work anyway and I spent all time I could nursing (and cuddling) him.

I have received this awards from two different friends.

A new friend, an Italian girl, Caterina, who is new at blogging but she is very good and we have written to each other a few times.

And an old, please let me call you that, friend, Casey, who daily delights me with her work and her tales.

I'm very grateful to both of them.

I am very careful at how I use the word friend, talking in Italian and in real life, I pay very much attention to whom I call a friend, I make differences between acquientances, long term acquientances, strict acquientances and so on.And there are only three persons whom I can truly call friends .

Mini world is different. Oh so different and I love it, I truly love it.

I do not have t keep up with anybody, I can show where my interests lie on, even if it's only playing. More over, I CAN PLAY !!!

And I love it !!

I have found so many lovely people arond the world and it's so difficult to choose among them...

I shall choose those with whom I have a closest relationship, because I can write to them and ask for advice or simply have a small talk and they invariably answer me.

§ Oggi mi sento Maria Antonietta.

Ho ricevuto il mio primo acquisto su Ebay, questa piccola grande meraviglia.

Gli autori dell'alzatina con le meringhe sono Emma & Neil e se , anche se ne dubito, qualcuno di voi non conoscesse il loro lavoro, andate sul sito e preparatevi a perdere le bave sulla tastiera.

E dal momento che sono due persone carinissime ( li ho conosciuti al SIMP per cui so ciò che dico) mi hanno mandato anche questi biscotti al burro. Ognuno di loro porta stampato il logo Paris oppure la Torre Eiffel. La foto non gli rende giustizia: sono bellissimi.

I received my first Ebay buying, this great small wonder.

The makers of the three layers stand are Emma & Neil and if, but I doubt of it, some of you did not know their work, go to their site and be ready to drool on the keyboard.

And since they are lovely persons ( I met them at SIMP and I know what I'm talking about) they also sent me these butter biscuits. Each of them have the logo Paris or the Eiffel Tower stamped on the surface. The pic does not make them justice: they are beautiful.

lettino rosa - little pink bed

§ La settimana scorsa ho cominciato a ricamare tre copriteiera simultaneamente per un'amica che me ne ha fatto richiesta cosicchè possa scegliere il SUO personale.

Purtroppo venerdì ho avuto un bell'attacco di influenza e gli occhi mi facevano così male che ho dovuto interrompere. Ma a me non piace stare con le mani in mano e allora è nato un lettino....

§ Last week I begun to stitch three teacozies simultaneously for a friend who has asked me for it. Thus she will be free to choose HER own.

Alas on Friday I had a severe flue attack and my eyes were so sore that I had to stop. But I do not like keeping hands in hands and then a little bed was born....

§ Qualche tempo fa Linda ci mostrò una meraviglia: una farfalla che era volata sul rampicante della sua Petite Maison.

Non ho potuto resistere perciò sono andata a curiosare sul sito di Julia Cissell dove sono rimasta a bocca aperta.

Ed ecco la mia nuova coinquilina, una bellissima farfalla Monarca.

§ Some time ago Linda shew us a small wonder: a butterfly who has flown on the clematis of her Petite Maison.

I could not resist thus I went to snoop on Julia Cissell's etsy shop where I was left speechless.

And here it is my new flatmate, a wonderful Monarch butterfly.
§ E' assolutamente perfetta e molto più bella dal vero che in fotografia, specie le mie fotografie !

materasso - mattress

§ Oggi ho fatto un materasso e ho deciso di farne un tutorial.

A me ha insegnato una cara Signora di San Francisco che mi mandò le istruzioni via email.

Per molte sarà una ripetizione ma forse sarà utile a qualcuno.

§ Today I have done a mattress and I decided to make a tutorial.

I was tought by a lovely Lady by San Francisco who sent me the instructions by email.

For many of you it will be repetitive but may be it will be useful to some of you.

§ Questo è il materiale: feltro bianco, spugna dell'altezza preferita, stoffa di cotone e naturalmente il modello del vostro materasso.

§ This is the material: white felt, foam of your needed height, cotton fabric and of course the template of your mattress.
§ Tagliate la spugna e due pezzi di feltro come da modello e formate un sandwich incollandoli insieme e tagliate la stoffa . Dovete fare una striscia lunga come il perimetro del materasso , alto come il "sandwich" con in più i bordi per la cucitura.

§ Cut the foam and two pieces of felt like your template and make a sandwich gluing them together. Cut the fabric. You have to do a strip as long as the mattress perimeter, as high as the "sandwich" plus the hemming borders.
§ Questo è il nostro "panino". Scusate la foto sfuocata.

§ This is our "sandwich". I'm sorry for the blurred pic.
§ Cucite la fodera unendo la parte inferiore e superiore al bordo. Lasciate un lato libero.

§ Sew the case joining the upper and lower part to the border.Leave an unsewn border.
§ Farcite la fodera con il panino di spugna e feltro. Cucite il lato libero.

§ Fill the case with the foam and felt sandwich. Sew the free border.
§ E questo è il materasso finito. Di solito aggiungo dei punti nodi fatti con due fili per simulare i bottoni dei veri materassi ma questa volta non mi servivano.

§ And this is the finished mattres. I usually add some French knots done with two threads to imitate the buttons of real mattresses but this time I did not need it.

§ Tra un paio di giorni vedrete dove andrà il mio materassino che ha le misure di un letto da bambini. A presto.

§ In a couple of days you'll see where my mattress , which is sized for a children bed,will go.

§ Oggi sono finalmente uscita con un'amica di blog, Paola che ha un bellissimo blog di cucina, Nocciole Tostate, e soprattutto è un tesoro di ragazza.

Dopo aver fatto colazione al Caffè degli Specchi, forse lo ricorderete da un precedente post, siamo andate dalla Drogheria Torielli.

Il negozio appartiene alla stessa famiglia dal 1920 ma esiste da più di un secolo.

Qui si possono trovare spezie, aromi, cioccolato, tè, saponi, zucchero di ogni genere, pot pourries casalinghi, tutto ciò che la vostra gola ed il vostro olfatto possa desiderare.

E' il paradiso dei ghiottoni.

Io mi sono limitata a comprare del sapone puro vegetale, del curry e del pepe rosa.

Così ho la scusa per tornare anche se ci sarà da fare un po' di coda, ne varrà la pena per poter annusare in libertà.

§ Today at last I met a bog friend, Paola who has a beautiful kitchen blog ,Nocciole Tostate, and most important she is lovely lady.

We had breakfast at the Caffè degli Specchi, may be you remember it from a previous post, and then we went at the Drogheria Torrielli.

This shop belongs to the same family from 1920 but it is more than 1 century old.

Here you can find spices, chocolates, teas, soaps, any kind of sugar, homemade pout pourries, really everything that your mouth and nose can wish.

It's the heaven of greedies.

I only bought some pure vegetal soap, some curry and pink pepper.

Thus doing I have a good reason to go back even though I shall have to queue a bit, it's worth of it to enjoy those enchanting aromas .

It's quite small because it will go in the nursery and to be truthful it's been made to host the Beatrix Potter's books.

§ Qui potete vedere i libri, anche quelli di Mercedes come le casette per gli uccelli. La borsina di Petit Bateau l'ho comprata a Parigi mentre la cupcake con la fragola è di Kim Saulter. Le scatole sono fatte con scampoli di nastri e cartoncino.La bottiglietta con la farfalla è un regalo di Kathie.

§ Here you can see the books, also Mercedes' ones like the tiny bird houses. The small bag by Petit Bateau was bought in Paris while the strawberry cupcake has been baked by Kim Saulter. The boxes are made of scraps of ribbons and light cardboard. The tiny butterfly bottle is a present from Kathie.
§ Questi librini sono fantastici, li ho costruiti con un kit di Paper Minis e ognuno ha 28 pagine con un disegno ed il testo leggibile.

§ These books are wonderful, I did them with a Paper Minis kit and each one has 28 pages with a drawing and a readable text.
§ Il pop up circus è stato un po' più complicato da montare ma di grande soddisfazione.

I'm sorry I still have difficulties with linking even if a friend has explained me how to do. I suffer from pc analphabetism.

It's hard to find something you do not know after so much blogging.....

1 - I hate houseworks and I tend to pospone it as far as I can. There are so many things much more interesting than mopping.

2 - I played judo as a child and I was a brown belt, I loved it.

3 - I have slept on the marble floor of a Railway station in Prague when I was younger. Good experience apart the sudden wake up at 4 am by a police hound.

5 - I do hate Math and Phisycs, I've never understood a thing of them but I disguised it well and I got my diploma.

6 - I'm trying to learn French but something strange happens when I try to utter a word: I think in French and I speak in English. Anyway I can understand it and read it quite easily.

7 - I've been knowing my best girl friend for the last 32 years and she is my true sister.

§ Saturday I made a quick run home for lunch and what did I find in the mail box ?

Mail !!! a beautiful box filled with mini letters, two of them actually open and they contain a letter and a picture.

This beautiful present comes from Linda of Une petite folie.

The picture is also her work and it will have pride of place in my house.

§ Cupcakes, sto arrivando !

Ieri c'era un'altra sorpresa nella posta: il DVD di Christel Jensen sulle cupcakes.

Io adoro i suoi lavori e sono l'orgogliosa proprietaria di una prep board e di alcuni dolcetti sfusi per cui non potevo non avere questo dvd.

Christel è bravissima, oltre che molto molto carina, come i miei uomini hanno subito notato.

Le sue spiegazioni sono chiarissime e a prova di errore e io non vedo l'ora di avere un po' di tempo per provare.

Yesterday there was another surprise in the Mailbox: Christle Jensen's DVD on how to do cupcakes.

I just love her works and I'm the proud owner of one of hers prep board and loose cupcakes. Therefore I could not do without this dvd.

Christel is very good at explaining, other than being very very pretty, and my men immediately noticed it.

Her instructions are very clear and mistake proof and I cannot wait to have some spare time to have a try.

la Strega Buona

§ Oggi stavo stirando ( tanto per cambiare direte voi...) quando il postino ha suonato alla porta.

Io amo il campanello quando mi distrae da lavori che detesto e tanto più oggi.

La settimana scorsa Nikki aveva messo sul suo blog le foto di libri e di rotoli di stampe botaniche. Le ho scritto e lei è stata così gentile da mandarmeli: non solo le stampe e i libri ma anche un sacco di carta stampata per le copertine.

I libri sono meravigliosi e i rotoli,....oh così piccoli, favolosi.

Non contenta ha scelto disegni della stamperia di Varese perchè è Italiana e ha pensato che si potrebbero adattare alla mia casa.

La gentilezza ha il potere di commuovermi sempre e Nikki è stata davvero più che gentile.

§ This morning I was ironing ( as to change, some of you who knows me better will say...) when the postman rung at the door.

I love doorbell when it distracts me from works which I loath and today more than ever.

Last week Nikki published some books and scrolls of botanic prints on her blog.

I wrote to her and she has been so kind to send them to me: not only the books and scrolls but also the printed papers for new covers.

The books are wonderful and the scrolls are , oh so tiny..., fantastic.

Not being happy with it she choose prints from the Italian Stamperia di Varese because she thought that they could be apter to the house I will build.

Kindness has always a moving effect on me and Nikki has been much more than kind.

Thank you again and again.

In the meanwhile I want to send to you Debbie's love. She asked me to give it to all the nice people who has asked about her, worried about her and sent prayers and good wishes.
